Best Heavy Metal Album Ever!

heh - yeah, gonna (try to) do all the guitar parts on bass too. sorta meshuggah-deth. :D

Kinda reminds me of my first metalband where when we played a cover I played all the lead guitar part on bass, and the guitarist the bassline (in powerchords).

And we both never believed we picked the wrong instrument to play or that we should've changed our roles in the band.

It didn't came over all that well though. :hmm::)

RIP still gets my adrenaline pumping. i've been wanting to do a multiple distorted bass + drums version of holywars for a while now. since my new(ish) band's about to start recording seriously i'm gonna see if i can't slip it in :).

that sounds sexy. doooo iiiiit.

megadeth are, hands down, one of the best bands i've seen live. holy wars is also just *drool*

heh yeah. i saw alice in chains open for monsters of rock back in '92, i think, which had megadeth, anthrax and slayer. megadeth was supporting RIP, anthrax was touring for persistence of time (Another fantastic album) and slayer was touring for (i think - never been much of a slayer fan) seaons in the abyss. all of the bands kicked butt, but megadeth was the best, imo. like a herd of locomotives heh.

Another vote for Rust in Peace.

Going back to some of the previous points made in the thread, I don't know, it is ultimately down to personal opinion. Since this thread has turned into a Best Thrash Metal Album Ever kind of thread, if I were to rate the "Big Four" of Thrash, I'd place Slayer last. Similarly with C'thulu stating MoP is best album. I'd take Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning any day of the week over Master of Puppets.

the think megadeth not being as big as some of the other bands, eg.g metallica, can be a good thing. i saw them at rock city in nottingham, which isn't really that big a venue when it comes down to it. much more intimate than a stadium and so much more intense.

My top 5 Best Metal Albums Ever:

Reign in Blood- Slayer
Master of Puppets- Metallica
The Blackening- Machine Head (Go out and buy this album. Machine Head is way too underrated, and this is a kick*** recording)
Dethalbum- Dethklok
Cowboys from Hell- Pantera

Topic needs more Cynic

Best metal album ever IMO :bassist:

In terms of historical importance:

Black Sabbath - Master of Reality (laid the groundwork for pretty much all heavy metal)
Slayer - Reign in Blood (laid the groundwork for death metal)
Repulsion - Horrified (...for grindcore)
Godflesh - Streetcleaner(... for industrial metal, although way better than most of the crap they inspired)

Words cannot describe how much I hate that album.

Lets look at some of the awesome lyrics just on that title track:

Same Line 3/4 times.

The "You flush it Out" is so cheesy and ******** on that track its rediculous. Also we have 2lines repeated twice here.

More Repition of terrible lyrics, and Weve compared Anger to a noose making the worst metal analogy ever.

First two lines sound like a second grader wrote them.

Repeat with unenthuastic rage.:eyebrow:

We covered that already.

It is Metallica Law that James must oohh at least once per song for no apparent reason.

Isnt that the same as the first half? Singing a crappy song twice does not make it good, just twice as crappy.

AND THE WHOLE ALBUM IS LIKE THAT!:rollno:

From "Frantic." This is the stupidest metal lyric ever, bar none. Thats coming from a Manowar fan.

Well you must enjoyed it SOMEHOW, especially to make such a long POST about how much you HATE it...
