Best Korean made basses?

Korean made spector. Man they are amazing. I have one my self, best bass I have ever bought. Got it for 350 used off of craigslist. (side note: always check craigslist, there are people who have no clue about basses and sell them cheap.)
Although the Korean made spector is not as good as lets say the U.S. made or Czech made, it still holds it own. The sound is still amazing. I highly recommend the Korean spector.

I was under the impression that most if not all Korean-based factories (at least the big Cort factory for sure) had moved elsewhere. I know Lakland is now in Indonesia.
You may be confusing this with the once-huge Samick, which pulled the plug on Korean production some years ago.

Cor-Tek, who made the large majority of recent Korean instruments -- under contract to dozens of brand names -- still makes instruments there, but also produces in Indonesia. Some of the Indonesian product I've seen recently is very nicely made, a big move up from previous quality.

I am not sure if Cor-Tek is in China or not, and if so to what degree.

The tentative gear industry move now seems to be to go for even cheaper labor in Southeast Asia under Chinese management. We'll see where that goes, if anywhere, given the current economic chaos.

my Hohner ......

Made in Korea.. plays like a dream, sounds even better... I paid $200 for it. Just bought it yesterday, I couldn't pass up the sweet deal... Black chrome bridge, black chrome hipshot tuners.. extra gain circuit placed inside for a bit more growl..

That's the first store I'll be checking out when I'm down there. One trip to Seoul and one trip to Osan. :D

I was slightly disappointed by the Mr. Potato outside of Osan AB. He had like 5 basses in there and only a couple I even recognized the names of. A couple Brice's. Straight out the gate in the walking mall, past the Mc Donalds is a Yamaha shop. They have decent selection of basses there. It's where I got my Fender Jazz. Although at least for the Fenders there. They are probably fake. Nice quality that seems like a CIJ, but alas is still probably a fake. :hmm: At least most of the instruments there are pretty damn cheap and their accessory selection isn't too bad either.

Rock ON! :bassist:
