Best low cost choice for bass strings?

Honestly, I haven't. I know I'm most comfortable playing strings with higher tension. I'm very happy with the feel of standard Boomers, Pressurewounds, and Brite Flats. I've experimented a little with different gauges with the Boomers, and I've had good results with a lighter gauge B-string, but my main basses are 35" scale, so maybe that's why.
