I prefer none at all.
I'm going to throw out After The Burial. Not super interesting bass parts but they have some really cool rhythms if you're into flowing breakdowns. The bass is more easily heard on their original release of Rareform, not the rerelease.
Check out the Japanese band Maximum The Hormone. They're a strange amalgamation of styles. It goes from pop/pop punk to nu metal/grindcore back and forth with a lot of Flea influenced bass lines. There's pop slap in grindcore-ish parts. It pushes some boundaries.
