best pickguard for a black p bass...

Black with a maple board - either B/W/B or mint . . . although red tort is nice, as is that abalone shown on the earlier pages . . . I went with B/W/B!

I have the same decision with my black-maple-white Precision V. The gold anodized looks cool. Also liking the 'minty' look. My 3-tone already has tortishell on it so I am looking for something different for the V.
Here's red tort I put on a Squier a while back.
Oh man, I do like it. It's quite evocative of the Murph and the Magictones doing their gig at the Red Velvet Lounge. Quando, Quando, Quando.
I recently got a Blacktop Jazz that comes stock with a black/white/black pickguard. Nice looking, but I wanted to give it a little zip. Nothing too splashy since I lean to a more minimalist esthetic. Also, I didn't want to have to custom order an expensive pickguard (not many precision pickup jazz pickguards to choose from). So a handful of black pickguard screws and a little wave of my not-very-magical Sharpie marker later…
…and violá! Instant accent at almost no cost whatsoever. The only downside, if you want to call it that, is that it's a bit reminiscent of the sixties-era Batmobile. And y'know…I can live with that!
