I'm currently looking into something for my black and maple P5. I was going to have a wood PG made by a local luthier, but that seems to have fallen through . . . sometimes I just hate dealing with musicians

Replace whatever hardware you have that is chrome with black ie screws etc AND replace the pickup covers with no hole covers...

and you have some tight bidness!

I'm kind of having the same issue. Have a black P-bass with a maple neck and the w/b/w pickguard just isn't hitting me.

I don't care for pearloids anymore, at least on my basses, and I don't want mirror, so I'm thinking either reddish tort or gold (maybe silver) anodized, or b/w/b.

I actually already have a b/w/b to slap on it, so I might just go with that, and if they fit right, I'm thinking of slapping some white p-bass pup covers I have on it so it'll be all black with the white outline from the b/w/b guard and then the "pop" (in the looks department) of the white pup covers. I think that would be sharp.

I do really like tort if it's done well, but looking through these pics I gotta say I think tort on black (or white for that matter) looks better with a rosewood board.

You know, somewhere I came across a P-bass replacement guard that was glow-in-the-dark! It looked more or less like a mint guard in the light, but glowed in the dark. That's pretty cool and tempting, and I'd love to see someone with that, but I don't know if I really want it on my own bass.

I just graduated from OU in Jan, 2007. Still have a lot of family and friends around Norman/OKC and in the Tulsa area as well.

Still glad to be out of Oklahoma, though. I just can't stand the heat. Ugh!

Great cherryburst finishes on the J and the P/J there. Great type of burst you don't see too often on Fenders. Nice.
