best pickguard for a black p bass...

Black, like this guy.

I'm digging up an old thread here I see, but I'm in the same boat.

I bought a P copy on a whim, and it is black with a rosewood neck and a white pickguard.

I bought a replacement black pickguard but it was too thin down at the jack. All the screw holes down there went into the control cavity, and if I fill out the cavity with wood filler it would still be weak at the jack and the guard would probably sprout.

So therefore I'm going to buy some black Rustoleum or something and repaint the stock guard so that its a black on black look. This thread swung it for me, thanks guys! Some awesome basses in here (including mint on black with tug bar!).

You know, somewhere I came across a P-bass replacement guard that was glow-in-the-dark! It looked more or less like a mint guard in the light, but glowed in the dark. That's pretty cool and tempting, and I'd love to see someone with that, but I don't know if I really want it on my own bass.

ive been looking for a glow in the pick guard for my p bass, any idea were i could find one?

go clear, and make you a bunch of underlays. Get some automotive vinyl and leave the backing on so it doesn't actually stick. Cut different ones out in different colors, cut some pictures out to the same size and cut holes for pots and pickup, get some pieces of interesting fabric and cut them to match. Then, use whichever one you want when the mood strikes you. Ridiculously cheaper than buying several pickguards.
theres a recent thread about clear pickguards with pictures of several peoples basses. great idea (not mine)
