Double Bass Best quality bass amplification?

The Glockenklang Soul head rated 250w @8 ohm and the UL-110 rated 250w 8 ohm (on paper). That reminds me! (it could be a new thread) could we trust the official specifications from the manufacturers? For example the Hartke Transporter 410TP ( cheap cab) rated at 300w while the 4 time smaller UL-110 rated at 250w, and two UL-110 would be 500w 4 ohm?

Your information is true to an extent, the amount of speaker surface area and the size of the box has allot to do with the absolute volume you will achieve.

It's pretty safe to say that almost any 4ohm 4x10 cabinet will be louder then 2 8ohm 1x10 cabinets.

Yes surely, but my GK Neo 112 ( it's correct, but I dont really like it, becouse lacks of bottom) is almost enough for me in every of my situation. The two Ul-110 must to have more power, and just now the Epifani arrived to Hungary, i will go to try. If they have on stock.

There is a new Glockenklang Soul head called the Soul II. I don't know how long it has been available but it appeared on their website very recently. It appears that the change is primarilly to the eq section. As far as power ratings are concerned, with Glockenklang the rating is reliable. Other manufacturers may not be, and even when they are there can be differences depending on the amplifier design. [For instance Pete Palmieri owns both the Glock Heart Rock and the AI Focus series 3, both of which deliver about 800 watts into 4 ohms. I'd be interested to hear his impressions of their abilities to drive cabinets. The poweramp designs are quite different in these amplifiers.] But since the Soul/Soul II deliver 440 watts into a 4 ohm load [250 watts into an 8 ohm load], you would want to choose an efficient 4 ohm speaker cabinet, as this is not a huge amount of power and you don't want to give up many dbs to inefficiency. A 4 ohm 2X10 might be a good choice, (Glockenklang Duo for instance). [You also need to be cautious with the efficiency/sensitivity ratings provided by cabinet manufacturers, as these are not consistent/reliable. You really need to A/B them for tone and volume.]

Also, now Glockenklang offers the power amp section of the HeartRock as a stand alone power amplifier, in case anyone is interested, which admitedly is unlikely for DB.

If I was starting from scratch and had a budget and weight considerations in mind I'd probably be thinking Focus with 2 12" boxes or a 2x10 cabinet and a sansamp for EB gigs, especially if you think you might want to run a mic in the future.

So you own the Glock and AI heads. If you make a comparison, how do you describe the differences beetwen the two heads, about sound, quality?
