Best reasonably priced Class D amp

Thanks for the additional background info!

I have a TT800 and Tone Hammer 500, playing through Subway 115/210 cabs or an Ampeg Heritage SVT410HLF. I have REALLY been digging the Tone Hammer for it's warm grind lately, but I think a D800+ is the cure for what ails you. Sounds like you don't really need what the Boogie channel of a TT800 would do for you.

I also play active basses: 4s, 5s, 9v and 18v, and one passive P with a hot Dimarzio Relentless pickup. I have been really impressed with the Tone Hammer as well, but it is always adding that old-school warmth whether you're pushing or playing clean. I don't think it's a good match if you are wanting more transparency... to get out of the amp exactly what the bass is giving. If you play a Tone Hammer, it's going to sound like a Tone Hammer no matter what. I just happen to really enjoy that at the moment.

That's a great cab you got there, and it deserves to be paired with a quality head.

I would recommend the Genzler MG800. You mentioned that you like a clean sound and the MG800 excels at clean (but definitely not sterile). If you ever need a bit more vintage sound, there is a second channel where you can dial in mild overdrive, and a contour feature that offers two EQ curves. The MG800 is very solid and the quality and customer service is top tier.

As for used amps, the Shuttle line from Genz Benz. A 6.0 or 6.2 can be found well south of $400, and continuing warranty service is available through agedhorse here on TB. Some 9.0’s may even sell at or just below $400. Simple, lightweight, reliable, and versatile. They can play very clean, and with the tube pre on 6.0’s and above, they can dirty up a bit if desired.

I saw the WD and TT800 prices, @$1000 and $1100 respectively.
Still, @ $800 and $900, I wouldn't categorize those as "reasonably priced". Pretty expensive from where I sit and probably overkill for church and small to medium sized clubs. The OP can save hundreds and get an amp that will do the job.

As noted above, you can get a D800 less than $600. As a matter of fact, I just sold mine for $525. That is reasonable. I don't do the church thing, but I exclusively play small to medium clubs and I used a D800 for that purpose for 5+ years. Sure, there are cheaper options, but I was responding specifically to your comment. I've had some experience with smaller class D heads, including TC Electronics and the TE Elf. I currently still have the Elf as a backup/small gig amp. It's fine, but I wouldn't use it for my main gigging amp because of its relative lack of power and lack of tonal control. And there are a lot of other amps that people like, Aguilar, GK, etc. My only point was that you can't go wrong with Mesa, especially if you get a good deal on one.

Seconded on the GenzBenz stuff as a less expensive alternative. Also seconding the Mesa and GK endorsements...and used Mesa subway stuff looks like a very safe bet.

Prices quoted in previous posts were for new units. The OP requested reasonably priced gear and some didn't hear that based upon their responses. Rather, they quote what they like/use disregarding the OP's cost request. Its like me requesting opinions for a reasonably priced J Bass and responses like, "get a Sadowsky or Alleva Copolo", when a Player Jazz would suffice.
But I agree, if the OP is open to used gear, he can have a Mesa or other comparable unit. For my $$$ and per his request, I think $500 buys a very nice and NEW unit.
I had personally recommended a Genzler Magellan 350 that will cover his needs and sound great doing it for $499 NEW.
