Best Strings for Ibanez Mikro Bass GSRM20?

That looks perfect to me, I'm glad to see "regular" short scale strings fit onto this bass correctly. I'll bet they sound nice too!
Now I have not put any of these on a Mikro, but have used them on another short scale: Stringjoy, which has 5 different short scale sets, and GHS Balanced Nickels.
Now if you have $85 to invest, or burn, depending on your opinion, you can splurge on the Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds. I have not bought and used these on Mikro and they are 32 inch scale if I recall, so I would get
confirmation they would work before taking the big plunge .

Something feels a little wrong about $85 strings on a $150 bass, haha. But I'm sure they would sound good.
As far as I can tell, from much reviewing & investigating, these are the best you'll find:
I'd love to get some in Stainless, but they'd need to be special-ordered to get the diameters I'd prefer.
Just got this bass. A real gas! I have a 40-100 set of these in Super Slinky I'm going to try out. Then probably some Rotosound 40/55/75/90 depending on how the Slinkys fare. I have the ultra-light Funk Masters on my Sterling and love them.
Running the DR Sunbeams 45-105 on my Mikro... they're not bad. Considering going heavier on the E and A... might go with 107 and 90. I also have the EMG GZRs and Gotoh Tuners... FWIW.
Just got a 28.6” scale J Bass from CNZ audio. Not bad for $180! But the strings need to be changed to flats. Other than the Mikro strings, I see people talking about using various brands, but are they for 28.6” scale? I’m of the opinion that it’s not good to wrap the winding of a string around the post, especially flats… so are there brands of flats (I’ve seen reference to DR and D’Ads) that fit properly?
What's the actual measurement on that particular bass from where the ball end is seated to where the string just clears the nut? (= minimum winding length needed) And the distance from the ball end to the E tuner post? (= maximum winding length) Does it have the thru-body option?
I don’t have it in front of me, but I’m going to add maybe 1.5” past the bridge saddle, so approximately 30”. No through body option.
Ditto. I used these for years on my Mikro with no problems. I'm currently using GHS Precision Flats short-scale strings, and they work fine also. I haven't had any problems with wrapping.
La Bella "short scale" = 32.25" from ball end to silk = may be too long on a 28.6" scale depending on how close the E tuner post is to the nut. La Bella is one company who explicitly warns against having any of the full winding on their flats wrapping around the post.
I realize this is a thread about the Mikro, but I was responding to the post by @edfriedland about his "28.6" scale J bass", which I'm assuming isn't a Mikro. See post #89.
What about the headstock and where the E tuner post is? This J bass has an in-line headstock, where the E tuner post looks to be closer to the nut than the one on the Mikro with the 2+2 headstock. Or, am I mistaken?
Just by eyeballing the picture, the maximum full-winding length requirement looks to be a wee little under 32 inches. Of course I may be wrong.
Technically:
Thomastik-Infeld (35.5" full winding), DR and Pyramid (both around 33.5") "short-scale" flats are too long for your mini Jazz.
Dogal (reportedly around 32-7/8") and GHS (32.75") also are.
Rotosound and La Bella too, if by a smidgen (32.25").
Dunlop and D'Addario should be *almost* right (32"). Optima and Galli may be in this latter group, not sure.
Practically speaking:
on the one hand, strings stretch when at pitch (.25" or so?), which doesn't help in your case; on the other, we're talking stiff, flatwound strings yes, but in normal gauges and on a sub-short-scale bass. Less tension. Your risk of the E string breaking at the post may be, well, acceptable. La Bella LTF and T-I flats (assuming 3-1/2 extra inches of full winding do physically fit on the post) are inherently more flexible than most, ergo arguably even less risky. Dunlops too.
