Best Strings for Ibanez Mikro Bass GSRM20?

I measured the CNZ Mini JB, and it’s 30” from the ball end to the nut, and 32” from the ball end to the E string tuning post. It’s roughly 40” total length. So, in addition to strings… will this fit in a Mikro gig bag?

I carry my Mikro in a guitar gig bag. It fits in with several inches to spare. I'm using a pretty common RoadRunner gig bag, which measures about 42" long on the exterior. Sounds like your bass would fit in a guitar bag as well. I don't have a Mikro bag so I can't comment directly on that.

Ideally I would like to find a case that fits it exactly. Part of the fun/usefulness of an instrument this small is The compactness for travel. I suppose I can just order a micro case and return it if it doesn’t work.

D'Addario Chromes Flats "short scale" = 32" from ball end to silk.
Dunlop Flats "short scale" = 32" from ball end to silk.

The above two are probably the shortest of "short scale" strings by major manufacturers, followed by La Bella and Rotosound at 32.25".

Keep in mind, though, that some flats are pliable enough to wrap around the post without breaking. For example, I once tried the GHS Precision Flats 45-95 on my Fender P bass. Their 38" winding length meant a full inch of the full winding on the E ended up wrapping around the tuner post. No issues whatsoever. This means you might be able to use the "short scale" Precision Flats (32.75" winding) even though some of the full winding will end up on the post.

Well, Eric Cocco of LaBella said they would fit and - yeah, 760M-S fits great. The E just starts to lose silk on the last half turn around the post, but a spacer between the ball end and the bridge would solve that. Sadly, my spare set does not include a D string anymore, so I need to get a single. But damn this bass just started sounding 75% better!

Sorry for my late reply. YES this bass does have some buzz when the Jazz bass pickup is turned on. The split pickup is pretty silent though. The noisy pickup is somewhat similar to the amount of noise you typically get from a Stratocaster guitar played on medium gain. So it's definitely pretty annoying./QUOTE]

this is pretty old, so if the issue is solved, just ignore. I bought this bass for my son. I soon realized that the electronic is not the best seen, so I took the time to shield every cavity properly with copper foil, and upgrade the electronics with regular pots. The hum is gone for good, and actually the regular PuPs sound petty decent.

PS. loose old Fender tone??? Grab a Jazz Bass, bridge PuP and then you don't cut through the mix, the mix has to cut through you..

Hi Ed, I just Bought a CNZ Audio J-B mini for my grandson. Did you ever find the perfect gig bag for yours? Also, someone at LaBella just recommended the 760M-S to me. Have you been satisfied with them?
