Big Cabs Club

Hey,

I never said I wouldn't move 'em.;) I just know that stage volume should be as quite as possible. Ok so some people do need them for more than I thought. They are a very good way to ruin your hearing though.

I would rather prefer not to be called a troll.:D
A little advice, then...when you see a thread called "Big Cabs Club," don't go preaching to people about how you don't need big cabs and they're for looks. You know it's only going to end up with you being called a troll, just like when I went into the Mesa club thread and said I thought Mesa rips people off with their tubes. I learned quickly...let's see how long it takes for you to learn ;)

THEY DO EXIST....

There's that GS412 again...sigh.

Anyone that tells me that I wouldn't want that, and I really just want/need an efficient 112 is wrong. I have one of those too for playing cocktail jazz, I've cranked it with the same head I use with my 610, and it's not the same at all. Big cabs, and all the air they move create a visceral reaction to the bass to both the player and the audience that a little speaker putting out the same relative volume do not. I tend to not even play as loud with a big cab as with one small focused one. And it's fun to schlep them around and bitch about them. I consider it exercise.

Updated membership! If you got missed somehow , pm me! :bassist:

Also to clear up a misconception, once you are in the club, your membership is lifetime! Once you understand what Big Cabs are all about, you can never go back...

I play through an Ampeg SVT pro 4 with two SVT 8x10s and my back up rig is a Peavey Tour seires 700 head with two 2x10-1x18's and a Fender 4x10 on top of them. Do I qualify for a number? Thanks, Wiley

I Have a Marshall 4X15" cab. It's a straight front, and I just missed out on getting the slant front to match. Was told it may have been custom made for Deep Purple. Bought it in '79 though I have no idea when it was made. Never opened it up.Does anyone know how to date it? Also, can anyone verify whether this was a stock or custom cab., and could it actually have been made for Deep Purple? It's in storage, but I do have an old picture I scanned.

Cool!!!! When I was in high school in the mid '70s, I tried to talk my parents into buying me a Marshall Major stack with two 4x15s if I got straight As. They wouldn't agree to it. I eventually bought myself a Major head but not the cabinets.

Those cabinets are shown in the 1972 Marshall catalogue that I have. I've never seen one in person.

I STILL love playing through my 412 at every practice. I have yet to gig it due to the ~170lbs, but one of these days I will... oh yes I will. And just for poops and giggles, I will do it at one of the smallest bar gigs we have.

Oh... how I look forward to telling the drummer that he has to keep his kit to 4pcs due to space while I show up with the 412...

Ox.

Now that is a rare cab around here! Very nice, Lemmy would be proud!

it's a '74!

Sweet, and I like the cranium wrenches myself! Does that cab have a towel bar? Or is it straight back?
