Big Cabs Club

What was the difference that you noticed by adding the insulation?
I have the same speakers and Cab.
Steve
I've had all sorts of big cabs (couple of Acoustic 301's, 70s Sunn 215, SWR Henry 8x8, Marshall 810 converted to a 215) but here is my current one. An older shallow Peavey 215 that's been updated with insulation, Eminence CB15s and a ew grill cloth and matched up with my Peavey VB-2:

My ex said my rig was too big....

my current GF (gotta ring tucked away for her ;)) doesn't complain about my stuff....

Dr Bass 2460D (2x12 w/ a 6 and horn) on top of my Bergantino NV215. Looks small, but I'm 6'5" and w/ the amp, it's taller than me :D.

Thornton - That rig looks mighty nice! I get first dibs if you have to find it a new home...;)

KPJ - That head is sweet, I've heard they sound incredible! I already know the cabs kicks -!

JEDI - Very nice rig, and congrats on getting a new GF with better tone...:smug:

svtscruggs - :bassist:

lfh - those cabs are sick, especially the 415:eek:

The wheels are polished and back on it now and I sold the head last week.

One of my wheels is a little worn,Are they the original speakers in there?
I replaced the square magnet Eminence with 2 of the Eminence Legend CB15's.
I also replaced the side feet with rubber as well.
Nice look with the cloth on the grill.

Not original speakers. I bought it empty. It did have the original grill in decent shape but the wood was broken, so I built a new grill. I put a pair of Madison Warriors that I've had floating around for 3 years in it. Actually only bought it for those speakers. I need to put some insulation in it and tune it a bit as well as I'm looking at tweeters and crossovers and L pads right now just to give a little of what's missing. The Emblem rattles like mad! I'm running it with a BBE Bmax and a 1000w power amp. I like it.

I have no big cabs of my own (yet) because I'm poor and have no need, but those are all beautiful stacks.

I have a few questions for you guys:

How do you get the giant heavy cabs on top of the other giant heavy cabs.

After that's done, how the hell do you get the heavy rack/head on top of that?

How the hell do you get that thing to the gig?

Hey HEADLE
I bet it would sound even better with some highs.Im not sure what the Madison Warriors are rated at for a frequency curve but I do have a pair of Madison Executioners in a set of PA Speakes and they lack mid badly so I let my Son use them for his DJ buisness.
I really like the CB Legends in my Cab they have a nice tone and are pretty clear in the mids and highs for 15's

HAHA, even though I never looked like the steroided-out guys at the gym..... I lifted weights obsessively from age 19 to 28, w/ my goal to be as strong as possible. I got my DEEP squat up to 450lbs and my deadlift to 500lbs. I still lift in moderation, high reps now. So, lift weights-- that's how you move these cabs :D.

BTW, when I bought my NV215, I had to put it in the backseat of my Hyundai, by myself...... not fun!

The obligatory Ampeg 8x10, an Eden 6x10, and the old Fender pyramid cabinet with 4x15. Not to scale, the 6x10 is smaller than the Fender cabinet. I don't know how much they weigh, but they are all freaking heavy. I use a trailer.

Can I join?

Anyone with rigs like that is a friend of mine!

Your number sir: #40 - wallybill

Is the Fender a modified 4X12 Bassman, or something incredibly rare? I've seen the 4X12 with the 4 speakers angled but was not aware of a model with 15s.
