In a sense, yes. It would allow you to more safely utilize the maximum amount of power available from your amp. I say more safely, because depending on your signal, it could still do very nasty things to your drivers - especially if using sustained synth-like pedal tones or lots of distortion; drivers need time to dissipate heat, or you'll quickly get into power compression territory (and that should be your next read, so you know what's going on when it happens to you ;)).

Edit, I just want to note, that there's a lot of talk about maximums here. You probably don't drive your car by flooring it 100% of the time (or maybe you do...), but the same thing goes for bass rigs. I stand by my recommendation to first try out your amp with that 810e you have your eye on in stereo mode - 320w to each 410. And if that isn't enough, then work from there.

@groovaholic i really shouldn't have read that link on impedance that you sent me. Man I've found out that all my 18s are 8 ohm. The 1820 uses 1 18 at 8 ohms and 2 10s at 16 ohms to make a 4 ohm crossover.

In theory, if I buy 2 peavey 410 cabs that were rated at 4 ohms. I could essentially build three 1820s and a 410 peavey monster cab, each rated at 4 ohms and I can fully use the potential of my lh1000, it would probably be 36" W 74" H 20" D and weigh 250lbs. But it would be friggin sweet
I’d prefer one quality cab over a heap of artifacts from stages past. Here, our mileage varies.

Okay I didn't read that right the first time. So use channel a in 1 410 and channel b in the other 410, okay I could see that working. I see the sensitivity is 100db and slp is 130. If I add another 810 how much would that affect sens and slp?

Also why is this cab so shallow...? It's only 16 in deep... that a little alarming for a bass amp.

I think it will get you another 6 db SPL, aka double it. That gets you to 136.
I believe the 100 db you quoted is for one driver and the 130 is the combination of all drivers for the whole cab.

Actually adding the second cab of the same type gets you twice as loud.
Decibles (db) are not linear, they increase/decrease logarithmically.
You can't treat the numbers as you would with a linear increase/decrease.
Going from 130 to 136 with your amp would be beyond stupid loud.
You probably couldn't stand to be in the same room with it fully cranked.
If you lived by the ocean, the whales would come by to see what all the ruckus was about.

Spend a little time learning how speakers work and what all the measurements mean and you'll better understand some of the recommendations you've seen here.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure you have a solid grasp of how loud 135db actually is...

225w to each 410

Quoting myself there - all this talk about dual parallel BS has gone done confused myself. I've been saying 225w, whereas I'm now pretty sure you'll get 320w to each section after reading the manual again. Pertinent text from manual:

Dual Parallel mode:
2 x 225 watts @ 8 ohms
2 x 320 watts @ 4 ohms
2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms

Bridge mode:
1 x 750 watts @ 8 ohms
1 x 1100 watts @ 4 ohm

Assumptions: 100dB SPL per speaker (1W/1M), with 800 available watts, and 8 speakers = 130dB SPL.

Then 100dB SPL per speaker (1W/1M), with 1600 available watts, and 16 speakers, should get you 136dB SPL given similar circumstances.

Let’s look at your available levels of power with that LH1000:

With 2x320w dual parallel mode (640 total watts) into a single 810e run stereo, you should max out around 129 SPL.

Bridged into a single 810e, you’re back at 130dB SPL because your cab is then the bottleneck.

For two 810es, being pushed with 2x545 (total 1090w) it appears that you’d be able to get up to 134.3db SPL.

Trust my math at your own risk.

Also, I don't think 16" is shallow for a bass cab, it's in line with any number of cabs I've used in the past. Overall volume is what matters (and only in relation to what a specific driver(s) need, more so than any single dimension.

And he means overall volume as in cubic area of the internal space of the cab, not volume as in turn that damn thing down.

Gah, you quoted me before I could change it... looking back now, but does anybody remember where we landed as far as 2ohm bridged mode was concerned for his amp?

Edit, found it (below). No go on the 2ohm bridged operation. Post above has been edited as well.

If you are using two 4 ohm cabinets, you MUST use the LH1000 in Dual Parallel
mode (BRIDGE switch off to the left) and connect one to each channel of the
LH1000 using the 1/4-inch phone jacks.

No, read the specs... remember what I said several times before about reading and understanding? This hasn't appeared to sink in...

Oh, and just in case you're getting that 1600w number from the peak listing in the manual, traditionally peak power is listed at double RMS. There are technical reasons for this that others would be in a better position to explain than I, suffice it to say that speaking in generalities (sorry), respectably rated amps are typically able to put out something like twice as much power as their RMS listing in very short bursts. That's peak power.

Peak power handling of a speaker must be compared with peak power output of the amp. Like units, like metrics.

No, not when operated in stereo mode... 320 watts per 410 for that cabinet is about ideal from all perspectives. You can damage it fairly easily with abuse in bridge mode IME.

Agreed, actually there's a general lack of grasp in this entire thread.

@JWH91 I think you are unclear on the concept of "opening band." Your job is not to be the loudest band of the night, or to have the biggest stack. Your job is to show up on time (or a bit early), set up your rig as directed by the sound guy, warm up the crowd with your 45 minute set, and then quickly vacate the stage for the next act.

Yup, and find out how long your opening set is (may bit be 45 min) and stick to that without going over. That, plus too loud are two sure ways to piss off a headliner.
