Yeah, that's so right. KJ was a terrific player and all those pieces you mention *should* have made him a great fit. But he just wasn't—in fact with the Who he seemed somehow more disciplined than he should have been—or than I'd seen him be beforehand. Zack Starkey was the right fit and brought some of that total manic abandon that Keith Moon brought (but thankfully not all of it). And that *was* a great fit. The Quadrophenia DVD with him on drums is a real joy.

irrelevant. the statement was about firing ozzy, without that happening their never would've mob rules or heaven and hell. the fact that it went off course after dio in no way diminishes what that line up created.

I completely agree! Now it helps that I'm a huge Ian Gillian fan. I think that album gets its bad rap because it sounds like a$$. I don't know who mixed or mastered it, but WTH were they thinking.
The cover doesn't help either, IMHO.
The title track, Keep it Warm, Zero the Hero, Disturbing the Priest, Trashed......some good stuff there.
Saw them on that tour as well, good show, although I suffered for a few songs midway due to a "product" I had purchased in the parking lot beforehand. Things got a bit intense for a bit.
The story behind Disturbing the Priest is funny, because they actually had a priest come knocking & ask them to turn it down at the castle where they were recording.
Ian has a strange/spooky story about the castle too, but I can't recall the details.
I think that's also where Ian crashed a car while loaded & the origin of Trashed came about.

If you played that album to any Black Sabbath fan without telling them that it was Black Sabbath, I am sure that they will praise it to the point that they want to buy it. When you tell them that it was Black Sabbath, then the whole "I was just joking" comes out of their mouth to save face.

Good Persepective. I was thinking more of right after this when it was a revolving door of guys. That included some NJ/NYC guys that really had a negative time dealing with Tony.

Hating on Mr. Roboto? And on the Jagger/Bowie cover of Dancing in the Street? Hate leads to the dark side y'know... =)
See, I think Counterparts was a FANTASTIC album, that still showed classic Rush flavor on many tracks, even if it wasn't the same guitar sound or overall production sound coming out. I think it was way better than Vapor Trails and TFE, though I didn't think those were too bad either, because hey, it's still freakin Rush.
I was never a big fan of Styx--but Mr Roboto has to be the worst thing they ever released.
I've seen it on several worst songs by a band you like/songs that killed a band/etc type lists
You are allowed to disagree--I certainly disagree with things in this thread--and have mentioned some.
My first tattoo was the lips&tongue Rolling Stones logo. It was bad enough when the late 80's came around & they released Dirty Work, but when this horrific duet happened (and i honestly love both Mick & David!), i went to a tattoo shop and had them do a real nice cover up!
Was that the 4 or 5 song EP they released sometime after 2000?

Yeah being a Stones fan can take you through some ups and downs... Dirty Work was as awful as the cover of the album. I'm a fan of the duet though, and it's a throwback to early rock too... but hey each his own. Though covering up a tattoo for it? What'd you get btw? Tell me a hot fat girl sticking out her tongue, with a hit of acid on it...
Have you checked out the new album, all blues covers? It's damn good...
