I've had this for a week or so now and must say it's easily one of the most comfortable basses I've ever played in any range. The neck is so flat and wide it's like playing a harpsichord or something. It has that "practically plays itself" feel. I could have done with only 5 strings probably, but the C is fun for little flourishes. Love the pickups ... wonder if an OBP-1 would be cool in here, but instinct says forget it. I have a mismatched steel string for the C because the nickel one broke when angled into the peg ... pretty annoying twang ... Stringjoy to the rescue! Next time will set up with thicker strings; the D and G sound a little thin. Can see myself looking to trade for a fiver one day down the road but for now am really enjoying getting all lyrical in the high registers!

I don’t like maple boards or those pickups, but I’m sure they actually balance each other out really well!
There have been a couple six string basses over the years, this was the very first one, which I stupidly sold.
Green Knight's was made after the first one, when Scott had spun off "HY5" into it's own brand...sweet bass.
This one was completed for me last march...sorry, I never tire of posting pictures of it!

I believe Scott told me five have been made, but I've only seen pics of a scroll 6.1, a scroll 6.2, and my own 6.2. I believe one TB'er has a fretless 6 in progress! I find the bridge pickup adds a lot of definition to the B string as opposed to the neck alone.

You, sir--a gender assumption, to be sure, but usually a safe one around here--have fine taste. THAT is cool!
I may have misremembered…this was the one that sold a few times…but there was a painted one that I had always looked out for..can’t find a pic now
I have a few others that are passive, this is the only one I put a preamp into. It's wired with a push/pull for active/passive and a passive tone, so you get the best of both worlds.
I have been chasing that bass since the last time I saw it come up for sale, if anyone knows where it is...let me know! Scott calls it the "tooth bass", because it looked like a giant white tooth. I love the older ones with narrow string spacing and handmade bridges. You can see HY5 002, the first one released for sale, in the back of this picture. The neck from HY5 #1 , the prototype, is on the active one I just posted. I still have the original prototype body and routing templates around here somewhere.
Agreed about the more narrow spacing. That’s always been my preference as well.
