Birdsong Club Pt 2

My band was practicing last night in the music room in the back of my coffee shop and as usual there were a few customers that come in to study or just hang out while we go over tunes.
One of them is a long time musician and has heard us practice many many times and after we were done he came up and told me that he could hear the definition and quality of my sound better that he ever had. The whole band spoke up in agreement saying the my Embrace makes it sound like I am playing better and more complex runs. After talking about it I have come to the conclusion they are hearing the mids and highs much better with much greater definition to my sound.

Great Bass, can't wait for the fretted Corto2 to go with the Embrace but I am wondering if I will even need the fretted bass at all?

Well when I got to the shop to find my package I have to say first off that I have never received a package so well packed. Multi layers of bubble wrap, peanuts, more wrap etc..

I got out the nice TLK hard and put it on the table, took a breath and open the case to find my Embrace packed with more foam. After clearing out the packing my new Embrace was just beautiful but the first thing that hit me was the smell of a wood shop. Remember walking into wood shop in high school after a class was cutting wood and having that smell hit you? Well that's what I got hit with.

Picking up the bass I was amazed at how lite it is. The wood is smooth and warm. The fit and finish is far above any bass I have owned. It is a complete package, it does not look or feel like a bunch of parts put together but rather a well designed instrument.

I will say that once I got the strap on the bass and in place that the bass felt small. It is hard to explain but being so lite and short scaled the Embrace felt like it was part of me. The tuners are solid and smooth without any sloppy play when tuning the bass. When I set the gain and let the notes fly I was shocked. The bass sound big and so articulate. The E string booms out strong and proud and the d & g strings have so much life to them.

After a couple songs into band practice I realised I was playing so much cleaner and smoother with little effort and the smallness I was feeling at first was completely gone. The neck is fast and smooth. This is the easiest bass I have ever played. I found myself not even thinking about the fact that it was fretless. I was playing this bass better that I ever imagined.

The sound it much cleaner and defined that any bass I have played before. I found the liveliness of the higher pitched strings to bea lot different than I am use to and really enjoyed the tone and color they offered.

This bass is beautiful, sounds fantastic, feels like it's belongs and played easier that any bass I have played.

Well I wrote way too long already so here's a pic, more to come.

enjoy !!! great looking bass !!! :bassist:

Just got notified by Scott that my corto 2 c271 will be ready on the 28th of this month. Check out the pics on his website. It is gong to be awesome looking. Some inlay on the fret board and drop D tuner which I hope my brain works fast enough to use.

Just got update of my woods all gathered together to start on.

I got my bass (artist #7) on black Friday and I've fallen in love lol. Anyways its been a while and I wanna send Scott and everybody in the shop a formal thank you but there's a problem my gift cannot be shipped USPS and from what I gather UPS and FedEx don't ship to PO boxes. I want it to be a surprise so I don't really wanna ask him outright. I also don't feel comfortable asking for his home address. So does anyone know an alternate address I can ship to? Thanks for any help guys.

I have the box my Embrace came in at my coffee shop. I'll check tonight when I go in for band pravtice and see if the street address is on it.

I had this in an email when I went to visit the shop. Heading back there again In less than 3 weeks.
Ok cool, my only concern sending it there is they keep odd hours and Idk where they would leave the package. I could request they sign for it but they will only make 3 attempts. Oh well guess I won't know if it will work unless I try. Damn Scott and his free spirit! Lol

That's gonna be nice! Are you going fretless with that?
Good question........

I have thought about it again and again but have decided to go with frets on this one. I have the Embrace for fretless and after hearing what the Fusion sounds like with frets, (Mine is a Corto2 but set up like a Fusion sound and pickup wise) I am going with frets.
I almost hate putting frets on that board but it will still look great.

But now that you ask I am starting to think about it again.

If you haven't heard the u tube video of Paul Anderson playing Caroline on his Fusion go listen to it.

I noticed that someone ordered a 6 string on the hy 5 client build page. Is it any of you tb-ers? I had about a grand set aside for one and then it went to the IRS. :(. I really would like to get one one day. If anyone knows who ordered it, I'd love to hear from them once they get the bass. I love my Hy 5 and I am wondering how a 6 would feel.
