I've never seen a round pickup before, what's the story on that one? Nice bass too :D

That's a Delano pickup, Brady of our Wingfeather Workshop and Muckelroy Basses uses them and I've been very impressed. They come from Germany and give tremendous power without losing glistening highs or big lows....... quoted from Birdsong guitars website ,,,4th of july sales !!!

Congrat's !! Great looking bass, beautiful piece of walnut !

That got me thinking if Scott would be willing to use that pu in an Embrace ? IMO putting a square pu in a round pu opening looks off. I bet the Delano would look great but of course it will change the tone too.

If you were to put a Delano Xtender (oval) pickup in an Embrace, it would knock your socks off! Those pickups aren't for the faint at heart. I use these in my bass builds upon request. They pack a serious punch, lots of low mids, big low end & a clear cutting top end.

Hey Brady thanks for your input. Your basses look great too.

I emailed Scott about using a Deano in an Embrace and this was his response:

That does seem like a cosmetic match but I think the Delano is too powerful. The soapbar brings out the voice I was after for the fretless with the funky woods & wood bridge... the pickup really has no personality of its own it just lets the wood be wood. The Delano has a definite personality, very strong & big to where in a chunk of Walnut on a fretted bass it's the voice of thunder. I don't think it'd be a match really. With a metal bridge, moving away from the organic thing sure... but that's a different bass than an Embrace.

Well after seeing the last update I couldn't hold back from sending Scott an email asking how close we are to shipping the Bark Bass.

A couple minuets later this came in responce'

"Actually, it's going into assembly next week! Pics up on Friday. You won't BELIEVE how cool it looks, even just hanging in the finishing rack. Put the last coat on today as a matter of fact... bitchin' bass!"

We are close people. It's crazy how excited we get over this whole thing but man I am on pins and needles in anticipation.
