Birdsong Club Pt 2

macmanlou, your fretless Shortbass looks and sounds great! Nothing like having the builder demo YOUR bass! Congratulations!
Thanks! Scott sure knows how to make the Shortbass sing. I especially like the free tutorial he gives on using the tone control. With my Fenders I usually keep the volume and tone turned up all the way and adjust tone at the amp, but it's great to discover that Scott built real usefulness into his controls.

Cortobass 11C-245R (rebody) complete, shipping on Monday, 12/1 !!! This looks very nice. Should give the just the sound I am looking for with the short scale fit I want!
Scott installed a Hipshot drop-D extender for me (for a small fee), too. I found a photo of the original with the horn cut off that so disgusted Scott. I'll bet it created some mondo neck dive!

Thank you, jmeachern! I am pretty excited about it! Scott offered it at a reburb price using the original hardware, neck and electronics. Since I was able to get in on it before any routing was done, I could ask to locate the pup at the neck rather than the middle (though if I had seen the youtube of you playing yours with the pup in the middle sooner, I may have gone with that). Scott demo'd a custom Cortobass with 2 humbuckers , and the sound from the neck only pup sounded very good. I like the classic blues and country undertone bass sound. It has a very strong presence in our church orchestra and praise band. Some people in the congregation don't realize what the the bass is actually doing until I cut out for a pause, or make a late entrance into a song.

My son has recording stuff, I am hoping to make a cut with it after it arrives.

Beautiful! I really like how the body center stripe goes with the headstock. Enjoy!

I'm requesting my club number! Just bought the eaglet prototype bass from jmceachern36, and the worst part is that it is sitting in the UPS warehouse until Monday morning, 5 miles from my house...I am picking it up though, no waiting for the truck! I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to getting this bass. I played my Hondo short scale on the gig last night, which is also 6 lbs and very small, having sold my other good basses to get this birdsong. I am assuming that the birdsong is going to be a totally different, wonderful beast. My arthritic hands and hurting shoulders are going to love this and it's time to save for the hy5...

Don't start ;-) The eaglet will serve my needs well! I do enjoy playing 4 string a lot, and for hand pain I think the skinny neck is going to be fantastic.

I do have a short scale 5 that is really light as well, but I don't think it's going to be getting any use. It may get sold to get smaller gig bag than my incase bag I have for my long scale (which I no longer will own any of as of 8pm...).

It's been just under a year...and this guy is on the way to me tomorrow. Scott and I got to talking one day towards the end of 2013, and Bernie Rico came up. I said, why not do a "tribute build"? I was just after double P's, he took it to the next level......"let's do diamond inlays and walnut and stringers". I let him roll with it, the headstock inlay was a COMPLETE surprise, I had no idea. Talk to the dude....let him do his thing, and I promise you'll be blown away! I can't say enough about how awesome Scott is, and how much he cares about both his customers and his art. In this age of cookie cutter bulls**t stuff, he's the real deal. Birdsong has cured my GAS, this is number 4...and the only thing I want is another Birdsong!

And I am in love!! So easy to play. In fact, so easy that it's going to take some adjustment to my playing style, in a good way. No more killing the strings to get a sound.

I'll have some gig pics this weekend, but here it is, strung with flats and now wearing my homemade removable mute, great for my Motown band. Excuse the messy background...

Excellent! It is great to see your photos with the Eaglet! I know Scott loves to see his basses out there where they belong!
My single pup Cortobass came in on Thursday. It is everything I had been hoping for, but will take some getting used to after my Epiphone EB0's.Eventually I will try to get someone to snap a photo of me with it. I am hoping to play it out tomorrow. One of my 2 EB0's has already sold. I am debating whether to keep the other on hand, "just because".
