Thanks guys. I didn't think there would be any issues, but I thought the same thing when I plugged my old hollowbody into a muff.
That's sexy, I really like the unlined look with the walnut. That's my bass right behind it! I'm dying to see what it looks like with the pickups installed....maybe this week!

I just got off the phone with Scott. Mine weighs in at 7lbs., 6oz.
A more contoured body would surely weigh less.

Its got the Corto pickups in it. Scott recommended them for their wide tonal abilities.
What were the changes in amp/speaker/settings?
I primarily play through a B15 or V4 into 15" cabs and slightly change settings for my P and J basses.
My fretless (fusion body, corto pickups) into my favorite setting with the Source Audio Manta filter pedal - with my Aguilar TH500 (with a huge mid bump at about 800hz) into my ampeg svt-15e cab - awesome. If I change my EQ (or when every other week through my Sansamp BDDI into a Bose L1 PA setup), that favorite filter setting doesn't work at all and can risk damaging things.
As I said, the bass/effects relationship is NOT the issue. It's the frequency peaks on the effect combined with the peaks/dips on the rig.
Oh - fretted fusion or corto with drive (using the Sansamp as overdrive stompbox into the Aguilar, an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe, or the overdrive on the Aguilar head) - all awesome.

She arrived last Thursday, well packed (I sprang for the hardshell TKL case) and with a great setup. I am really impressed with the tone from the D'Addario ECB82 (.050 - .105) Chrome flatwounds and Lace pickup. No hum whatsoever (Scott must shield it well). Very nice neck - plays "like butter". Does a Shortbass qualify for a club number? Serial #14-0620.

I've definitely found situations where that pickup configuration hummed, but you throw in enough florescent bulbs or play in the worst-wired building in DC and I'm convinced even an unplugged acoustic bass would find a way to give me 60 cycle hum. I love that neck pickup - especially for fretless.
