Scott and I worked over 8 months to figure out what it was I was looking for in a bass.
This ones mahogany, walnut and ebony with a mahogany neck.
This fretless board rings out like non other that I had my hands on and the whaa sustains from top to bottom and back on a single strike.
Thanks Scott for all your time and patients. It was a worth wild ventier. I'm looking forward to taking anther trip together again on the next build.

"Big" and "Huge" are common words people use to describe it at shows. I couldn't disagree! It's actually the Bliss #1 pictured on the Birdsong site. I got it from CT&Birdsong in pristine condition.

I'm having Scott build me another, but I still check here and ebay every day for Birdsongs. I'm hooked!!

Hi everyone! Thanks for keeping this going, it's amazing. I had no idea how many pages this was - don't have time to read it but I'm honored! This far in (year 10!) I want to make sure I'm as available as possible, so if it's cool I'll check in every week or two (depending on time) and try to answer questions or be of service. Best is still a call or email (both on the site) - no texts - and I do post on my Facebook pages every Friday when I update but I don't hang there. Some of you feel weird contacting me because you bought used or want to modify, no worries - you're family too and if I wasn't a tinkerer myself none of this would have happened! Just a heads up for any of you Birdsong lovers. I used to own that one. I only sold it because it was a little heavy for me. But at 8 lbs it was not a heavy bass. And it looks, plays and sounds absolutely fantastic! The pics do not do that bass justice. Not affiliated with the current owner. Just figured someone may be interested in it.

You guys and these eBay links!! Stop causing me GAS flare ups....I want this so bad. It would be sweet to have a matching set of the first two scrolls, a five and a six. But alas, I owe Mr. Beckwith too much money on my current build as it is. I hope someone here grabs it.

Nice! I ordered something similar back in the Spring that I'm waiting on. Mesquite Fusion body w/rosewood pinstrip, fretless rosewood board, Delano pickup with volume knob and front jack - no tone knob or switch.

Greetings, Birdsong bassists. This past Thursday I purchased Shortbass 14-0620, which will be an unlined fretless with walnut body. I really enjoyed talking to Scott and looking and reading through his own website. He and I both love old cars and trucks, and probably talked about them as much as we discussed my new Shortbass.

I just finished reading through Part 2 of this thread, and promise to go back and do Part 1 from the beginning when I get a chance. I do enjoy looking at all of the basses in this thread. Each one a real beauty in its own right.
