Lost our drummer yesterday to, well, actually time constraints and not gardening or choking to death on someone else's vomit, but I'm still a little crushed. He was a good hang and a fantastic player, but we were his other thing and he just didn't have time anymore. And now I have to find another drummer who's into our very specific and difficult to market thing (IRS Records era R.E.M. covers). Anyone know any bambams with a love for Jangle in Northern Virginia?

Just lost mine this week too. Gonna miss him as we were like peas and carrots, but his brother is taking over and has already been playing with us some so it should be an easy transition.
His brother is a little more active on the kit so that will be fun for me but there is a new clock at work so have to get tight with that.

He's got more of the '83 look; long & curly. But finding a drummer with a luxuriant monobrow is going to be a heavy lift.

Isn't it the best? Got a recommendation here when I asked about borrowing a bass while traveling last year, and got tons of great suggestions that landed me a Takamine for a week and a new friend in Berlin.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I've just been able to get my drums out of storage for about three years and I like a lot of the music of R.E.M. but I'd certainly always want to do some of the music after IRS no matter what capacity in a band. I think there's a lot of diversity of styles, moods, feels, etc... and I think there's a lot of public/popular recognition for that music. Can't have an R.E.M. show and not do "It's the End of the World and We Know It" and other hits!!!

Apologies to the OP for the off topic, but on June 28 I played another show at Jimmy's with Too Many Daves, my "big band" (meaning: too big to play indoors). The reason I mention this: I believe you and I met at TMD's previous Jimmy's gig that happened years before the pandemic! That was a cool hang, I hope you've been well.
