I generally set up on modern and jump around between overdrive, distortion, and fuzz. I'm digging the 6550 emulator but I go between all three, depending on the groove. I run through a Morley Wah and a Boss OD-3 overdrive pedal. It's made for guitar but it gives proper metal fuzz that sounds killer on Metallica bass lines and detuned doom and death metal.

I’m loving the compressor on my U500! First time really using it yesterday and it did what I needed it to with aplomb.
The features on this amp are amazing! When I took it to practice a couple weeks ago, it had no problem getting under and through my drummer and guitarist. We play loud in a small space.

Bought the Blackstar Fly3 bass pair in December from Thomann, but was delivered late, and sat in the UK until my father visited me 3 weeks go. I have a Squier Jbass (flats) and an Acoustic Bass Guitar (tapes) and I love it. I have been practicing so much more. Before I ran into a soundcard and through Overlouds Markbass Studio software.
I don't notice much effect with the EQ though. With the mid point being brighter and the far left a fight being kind of the same. Sub adds a nice bottom to the Acoustic bass and adds some much needed volume to playing wit an acoustic guitar .Batteries last very well. For hours. I don't use the distortion on bass, but I like it on my Epiphone Dot (335 style Electric Giuitar) and Acoustic Guitar with a sound hole pick up.
I would receommend getting the Combo and extension pack, it works well enough with one speker, but the second does complete it. The duo pack also comes with a PSU which is handy, and the extension cab isn't avialable as seperate prchase for the bass. But I think the only difference between the Guitar extension and the Bass Extension is the grill, so if matching matters to you, get the the duo pack
EDIT: I now have both and the grill on the bass as well s being more open mesh, seems to have an extra dampening behind it.
Since it's arrived I've discovered it's now available in a shop here (Vietnam). They have a small Blackstar range. So if the local store has is open today (National Holiday) an they have the Guitar FLY3 in stock I think I will by today.
This has me wondering. the Emulated/headphone out cutsout the speaker when plugged in. If I can bypass this function, I can end the out from the BassFly3 into the GuitarFly3, meaning the guitar will share a pair and the bass gets 4. Which could address the volume balance with sitting on the beach with a bass and guitar.

I second the recommendation to get the whole set with the Fly 3 (which I did when I bought the guitar version; the extension speaker from that set works just fine for bass). Since I learned that the hard way, I have an extra, unused power supply if anybody wants to save a few bucks and take it off my hands.
OK - stopped by a local music store on way home from work to scan the current used inventory as I occasionally do and they had a fly 3 setup for demo. When I read about these (3 watts) and look at them, I'm thinking glorified computer speakers. Plugged in a jazz bass and quickly found out NOT glorified computer speakers. Awesome and BIG sound out this setup - loved it! My next GAS attack may be in this general direction!

You’re out next to nothing if you do and decide they’re not your thing; somebody else will give you most of what you pay for them if you sell. Probably the best bang for the buck of any amplifier I have bought; I use mine for hours every day.

Notice a buzzing on my FLY3 that wasn't there before, worried I had damaged the cone. Turned out that as I had been using rechargeable, and not put them back when using the PSU, the back of the battery box was maybe rattling. So worth puttng a peice a foam in there if you don't want to leave batteries in when using the PSU (or when they are on charge)
Anyone know it it's possible to mod the Headphone out, so the speaker still plays, when the headphone jack is in?

When you plug the headphones in, the speaker no longer plays. I want to mod it so both the headphone out and the speaker play at the same time. Have both, instead of either.

Yes, the speaker does play with the headphones in and is controlled with the master volume. At least it did on the U500. One of the reasons I got rid of mine. You have a fly, get a U Series.
