I couldn't agree more! And at 42lbs, my back agrees as well! But yes - I like a bass tone that has character and says "I'm here!". Quite SVTish to my ear.

My wife keeps on at me to get rid of the bench but she doesn't realise that's my backdrop for bass photo sessions![]()
Silhouette video of the U500 in action. Nothing fancy at all - just a nice round tone.
Skilled band, man. Great vocals.
Do these combos come with a slip cover?
You can get a cover made perfectly for your blackstar amp...
Official Blackstar Unity U500 Combo Padded Cover
Downside is its a bit pricey - $68 us shipped from the UK.
OR - you can do what I'm doing. Just ordered this...
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RumMultiCvr--fender-rumble-200-500-stage-amplifier-cover
For $20 and free shipping. The dimensions are very close to the U250 and U500 and should fit.
When you get your amp, Blackstar sends you a nice sticker....that will go right over that Fender logo!![]()
Sounds great! Nice view behind you too - New Zealand is a beautiful country! Is that Lake Taupo?Silhouette video of the U500 in action. Nothing fancy at all - just a nice round tone.
Yes - the blackstar covers seem to have much more padding and perhaps better made overall. If I was still gigging out alot, I'd probably consider it. But I mainly need a dust cover - and the pollen is horrendous right now!Yip the UK covers are a little pricey- but VERY nice.
I do however like your thinking on the fender covers! Well played indeed.

Dope. How ya go pulling a rendition of Timmy's tone on the U500? Get dirty enough for his overdriven sound?View attachment 3371114 Loving the silent practice feature.

Not yet, still trying to move old gear, and my son's just started playing so putting most of my time into him atm. Soon though...The clean(ish) tones are in there. With my dark glass vintage ultra I can come closer to the dirty tones.
I don’t have a jazz bass at the moment, which doesn’t help the cause!
Did you end up getting a new amp?

Never had an amp with a USB out. Have any of you tried it - hooked it up to your computer? Is there specific software needed to record yourself this way?
