Ok…since the club is rolling, I'll ask my first blues related question: I really dislike most blues songs with a shuffle beat. I really DO NOT like the shuffle. Am I alone in feeling that way?

I love a good Shuffle, it is a pretty good chunk of the Blues but, I suppose one could get away with playing nothing but straight and slow Blues. Can I ask why don't you like the shuffle?

Hard to say. Straight I like. Slow I like. However, most of the shuffle tunes I've listened to seemed kind of simplistic and lacking in subtleties. Or maybe it's just that I haven't heard a shuffle blues number I like yet.

Yep. It really took some time to be able to do that. It's much easier to play rhythm guitar and sing than to play bass and sing. Because it was blues, nearly all of the lines were walking blues patterns, so that makes it a little easier.

I hear ya. There are nights at the BluesHaus where it's nothing but bum ba-dum ba-dum on roots all night long. While it's "money", it's also boring as uhhh... yeah.

Fact. It's a thing, but it's an overdone and simple thing- and leaves much to be desired.

Lots of ways to play "blues" re arrange the classics ... do a standard in New Orleans second line style, watch the eye brows raise. Intro the classic "Wang Dang Doodle" with the Hendrix "Third Stone From the Sun" theme, we do. Push the limits !

Back from the BluesHaus. There was a plethora of bassists, so I only got 1 set. That's all I need. If I get another, it's gravy. There was one night when I was the only one, so had the whole thing. But 1 is the norm, with a second not uncommon.

I brought Jenny, and she reminded me once again why she's my go-to girl. Mmm... That throaty growl...

Just completed arrangements for a photo shoot on 23 October. The intention is to showcase myself on a personal Website for the local, and lively, blues scene. Everything's ready save for ... okay, right, I'm 63, I'm as ready as I can be to get back at it. And no hats

this is the only quick video I can find, but the original version and the origin song, I Loved Another Woman, are much more bluesy than the Santana version.
