My dear friends here at TB,
after been inspired by you for the top woods, i would like to continue to improve this project with you all.
I was thinking about changing the body shape of my new build, instead of the 3D scroll a could do something different.

1-The "CT 3D" scroll. This is perfect, but......

2-The "CT Ball" scroll

3-The "Simple Ball" scroll

4-The "Bean" scroll (something like the Bean model of Prometeus guitar)

5-The "Hole in the Bean" scroll. It could be a "through-hole" or a "sound-hole" with cambered body.

6-The "traditional" scroll

I like the CT Ball but I'm flattered by the fact you take my designs as an inspiration together with Carl Thompson's ones. :D
Whatever you choose... please, don't go for the "traditional" one! :hiding:

This is a tough fight! The "traditional" is a little on the "CT 3D", and the "CT ball" is right behind, head to head with an unknow "rookie"...

Armando, you know you are one of my great ispiration ever!
But... the "traditional" could reserve some surprise if carved in a different way. I'm brainstorming on it right now...

I voted for the traditional look. Both #2 and 3 look like an upper horn fracture just waiting to happen. The traditional one has a bit of a Spector upper horn look to it. It would be really cool if you could incorporate that Spector edge radius and body front and back arches in your build. Just my 2cents.

No, they should be safe! (I hope...)

I really don't like Spector basses.:rollno: About arches i can't understand the usefulness.

The CT 3D is fine, but I like the #6 traditional better. It looks a little like a Garz Cobra

I didn't know Garz instrument, but they are cool!

Is that headstock really that big compared to the body?

The headstock is quite HUGE, but probably the body is too small for a 5er, cause it's smaller than a Jazz, and also much thinner, so i think to enlarge the bottom, in order to make it more stylistically balanced and to avoid neck diving too.

Here is my new body shape!
I worked on the "Traditional" shape, cause it's the winner of this poll and I want to respect the will of the people!
But i really didn't like it, so a changed it a little bit.
The body is bigger in the bottom, so i will put some extra wood to the blank and i will carve a couple of "cat's eyes", and the body bottom curve is no more simmetric, but it's large in the treble side.
The treble horn is now smaller, and look like the one of CT Claypool Walnut bass, while the upper horn is more sharp, and now it sports a soundhole: the upper wing will be chambered.
The headstock lost the tips, and is now more rounded.
Next step is to check the blank lenghts, cause i want to stretch the body in the bottom if i can, because now it look short and "stubby".

Do you like it now???
:)?:hmm:?:rollno:?
