Very thin necks...... too bad I'm playing P's so much these days..... it makes going back to the Jazz a bit tough.

Your other questions......
I did put in different pups..... I put in SD Antiquities. Incredible pups.

My action gets set right around 5/64" when checked at the 12th fret on the E string. Others are just a tad lower as they go up (A is lower..... D even lower.... G is even lower).

I wouldn't worry about the fine tune bridge. Just put on a original style bent plate, and be done with it.

Yeah my neck seems thinner than other 1.5" for some reason and yes it feels odd going back to another bass for sure.. Mine has JVX pups and with a mid stacked knob which i can have all kinds of tones with pretty dang cool.. I ended up putting on a bent plate on it from on old 80s yamamha I had that was MIJ.. it has a few deader spots in it so I am thinking of getting it looked at but by far one of the best basses I have ever owned hands down.. I get compliments on tone and look of bass every gig i play.. thanks for answering the questions.

Mine is gigged on a regular basis. I love it! The neck is not original. I traded for the bass and the guy who owned it before me replaced the neck with a power jazz neck. It's a great sounding bass and solid. He gave me the original neck as well. I think someone tried to make it a fret less or do a re fret and never finished. I'm happy where it is. I'll most likely change the bridge at some point. One of the saddles had a screw wedged into it and I couldn't get it out. It'll also fix the string spacing issue. Glad to see I'm not the only one with a boner!

actually this is a standard for the years 89-93/4 from what i understand they just made he body a little bigger gave it 24 frets instead of 22 bigger horn AKA Boner bass.. all i can say about MINE is that it is my main gigging bass because of feel tone and the fact that everyone that hears is says MAN that thing sounds so good.. that s pretty much it for me. I never got that from any other bass except my Dipiinto Belvedere Deluxe.:bassist:

Glad to see others have enjoyed this gem. I bought mine new over 20 years ago and still love it. The pic demonstrates the string spacing issue clearly. I put DiMarzios in it a few years ago but plan to return it to stock soon. I may update the bridge at that time but will keep all the original parts. Never letting this one go!

I'm not so sure that there is anything that makes the jazz anymore desirable than a more traditional jazz...... I don't think they weigh anymore (mine is 9.5 lbs.... pretty std for a jazz), because the longer horn was offset with deeper cutaways. The TBX tone control is killer and you have the 22 frets. I dig mine..... I just don't play it much anymore, because I'm more into the P bass tone.

That is awesome looking for sure .. If I ever find the P bass like that i will be getting it so i have a pair..i like the P/J pup thing for sure great sound. what is the nut width on the P?

Salamenster, you can find that TBX tone control here: http://angela.com/strattbxtonecontrol.aspx

It says for Stratocaster (which they are), but it is the same thing: stacked pot 250k/1M with cap and resistor. Just make the Strat knob into a toaster dial or something and you'll have an O.G. Fender TBX tone control.
