Bootsy's new signature Warwick (HUGE pics inside)

Jack Bruce and Entwistle got custom bodies as well.
This is pretty grotesque IMO. Who does it market to? If you want a Bootsy bass you're going to buy a star. If you like Warwick, this is pretty much an antithesis of Warwick's design style.
When I read the title I was kind of hoping they would have a rounded subtle star type of body... or something all new and funky. Not a spray painted(i know, exaggeration) Infinity....

Personally I see Warwick being the BMW of basses in more ways than none. And as much as I want to like it (heck, there are worse signature basses, and I like the silver paint), this bass is like taking a BMW M5, throwing some wacky paint on it and installing 26" wheels with spinners. You might see that on say, an old Buick Wildcat or Chevy Caprice (analogous to the real Star basses) but not on an M5.
It might look half decent on another car, but it doesn't look good on a BMW. Neither do stars and flames on an Infinity.

Eh, I see the VW Beetle being another Warwick. The Infinity, from what I have seen, is the most expensive Warwick (judging from Amazon) barring any custom, signature, or one-off models. Hence the BMW M5.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it. Of course, I don't think you could have any Bootsy-style bass an not be a little cheesy. There's only one real Bootsy bass, and he's the only one that can play it!
As a diehard 'wick-er, this is not what I would have expected. Using the infinity platform was a bad idea in my opinion. How about a unique body shape? Besides, what kind of tone is to be expected from an infinity? It most cerainly is not funky!

I dont want to get into an argument here,but c'mon mate.Are you serious??Have you played an Infinity??
It's a semi hollow body,maple neck,ovangkol back,rosewood fingerboard,maple top with a pickup & eq package that screams funk.In fact,the Inifinity is great for any genre of music.Sit down & spend time with one.
Listen to some Fishbone,tell me that Norwood doesnt sound funky.*In general.
I think alot of folks are forgetting that this is a "signature bass".
These never sell in any numbers,unless it's the P-nutt series or John Entwistle Buzzard or Stryker,or Jonas Hellborg's amps,of course.It's a collabertion between a player & the company.The company knows full well,there's no money to be made from these signature basses.They're not marketed at us players,but they make for good advertising.Just look at the debate going on in this thread.People that normally dont even think about Warwick,have their tongues wagging.

Bootsy has never been a one trick pony. He has many basses besides the star basses in which he has at least 5 of. I see a lot of comments here about the Warwick being ugly or whatever but remember, Bootsy himself designed it along with warwick so I'm sure HE's satisfied with it.
The highlighted specs are non standard.
Like TM Stevens,Bootsy believed a factory standard production model instrument was adequate,& needed only cosmetic changes to make it "their baby".

So you'll see that none of the changes made have any impact on tone &/or performance.
I'm biased,being a Warwick fanatic.But The Infinity is truely a magnificent design,& I'd be of the opinion regardless of who built it.
