I've used one in a band setting. I was very impressed, as for me it seemed to solve problems I've always had with fuzz/distortion - it was almost impossible to dial in a bad sound or mess up the volume balance between having the pedal on and off. Plenty of lows and punch between the EQ and dry mix. I've used other OD/fuzz pedals with two-band EQ and dry mix, however this one was far easier to work with. Well worth checking out if you've struggled with similar issues.
A rep brought one for me to try at a rehearsal.
Correct, they're not available at retail yet. I can say that they're being demo'd at retail, have been since NAMM, so I think it's safe to presume that orders are or have been placed so stores probably should have a good idea when they'll be in stock.
I am not affiliated with BOSS/Roland nor am I involved in retail, and I wouldn't benefit in any way if these are a huge success. Just stating my experience.
Thanks. That's good news about March release and the shills. I'm planning to buy one when they're allowed into the wild.
I can add that the sound in the video demo linked about at 1:48 is with the Drive cranked. As I recall, it's more subtle up until near the very end of travel then gets somewhat nasty right at the end when cranking the drive. Even with the drive full-on it sat well in a thick mix since, as you can hear in the demo, the actual notes are still well-defined.
What I want is Will's old white P Bass.
