Hmmm it's very odd, if I set up a path with just my GK send and no Aird preamp in the active signal chain the cab sim turns off for both main and sub out.

So even if I put a divider with set to single and the A path but have an AIRD preamp on the inactive B route it's disabled.

Worth noting that this is when using the GT1K as an interface, haven't tested using with an actual amp because the child was asleep. Not sure if it's a bug or intentional thing due to the way AIRD processes the relationship between stages in the chain but it's annoying to have to sacrifice a divider just to us an ir.

So you’re using the unit with the USB interface?

If you haven’t already, you can register the unit with Roland Backstage. Then you get access to the customer portal. I’ve asked them a couple of questions and they’ve been helpful.

If you put your output to Recording, you can change your speaker sim with the AIRD Pre’s. You can also turn the pre off and have the speaker sim active.

I've got the AIRD output type set to RECORDING, and changing the SP TYPE with the preamp block disabled does nothing, so I wonder if I'm missing something.

Could always just change the preamp type to TRANSPARENT, and not worry about it being there, but I'm curious if there is a non-hacky way to do it.

Perhaps this may be the answer, and maybe the intended us for the Transparent pre?

Well just gave it a shot and seems to work a treat, I had to set the level to 80 but aside from that it's virtually identical in tone.

I'm chomping at the bit for a GX-1000. Between Boss and Helix they both should be coming out with a next gen unit. I'm super close to getting the GX 100 and honestly it's capabilities will cover all my uses and eliminate my need for modulation pedals. I should probably just get it and be happy. But in afraid they'll drop a 1000 version shortly. Or the New Helix will also be a heavy contender.

I wasn't into the BOSS UI at all watching videos but tbh now that I'm used to it I'm pretty confident I can create and edit patches much quicker than I could on a touch screen. I think touch is great for navigation and drag n drop functionality but as soon as you start having to dial in specific numbers I bet it gets frustrating.

A combo of touch for general navigation and dials for fine adjustment would be great although I guess it's more potential points of failure though and would probably be more power hungry.

@Nuage420 yeah I can totally see the appeal. Bluetooth and the app would be amazing for dialing live sound too, set a loop going and tweak FOH. Gutted the cut it on the core.
Definitely... if they did a core with BT and an expression pedal that would be perfect for me.

Watching videos on the GX 100 its dAng near thE size of the GT1000 so I might as well go full size instead.

I believe you can add BT to the CORE. Yes?

Well, you can buy a Bluetooth WIDI interface with TRS jacks, they're not expensive.

Other than that, once you start adding things like expression pedals and extra switches to the Core, you might as well got for the full GT-1000, it's relatively compact for a flagship MFX processor.

Also, I personally hope Roland/Boss sticks to high-contrast monochrome displays with their professional units, much easier to read in direct sunlight.

I think the core is everything I need really for 90% of stuff but I like that it's so compact but has the ability to scale up if I ever needed, even if it's just for messing about at home. The Bluetooth via widi is cool, I had no idea that was possible.
