It all screams of a company building products on a mountain of tech debt, such a shame because the GT1000core is a great bit of kit but could be so much better.

Yeah, on the other hand, Boss/Roland has a ton of legacy hardware platforms they need to support. The speed is definitely an issue, though. I believe they use JS with Adobe AIR (RIP), Electron, and other libraries like jQuery (another piece of dinosaur tech), to make the desktop apps.

Not exactly zippy, and data transfer takes forever. I'd love to be able to use the "ALL DATA BACKUP" feature to sync settings between my two GTK Cores, but it's so painfully slow it's easier to do it by hand.

The darkglass app crashes all the time and is glitchy with out proper instructions……..

roland/boss can’t simply focus on on piece, they are simply more menu based, if they did something similar to the helix everyone would just say they copied.

it’s def not a plug and play pedal

I will agree that it could use an update. Or, I would like an update. Maybe another amp model or two. Maybe some more drive options? Maybe the ability to dump a few delay blocks and exchange them for Fx blocks? Maybe a synth model? They make the syb-5, why not just incorporate some of that software into the Core? That would certainly shut us up for a bit and make this thread go bonkers.

But they didnt ask me, so I guess I'll have to be patient.

A little rant, I think Boss really need to realise they're in the Tech/Software sector now with the mordern multifx like the GT.

Their software is embarrasing when you look at stuff like Darkglass are putting out there. I really like the fact they put out Tone Exchange despite it being pretty limited but I could've stuck that site together over a couple of weekends.

I don't think the GT1000 desktop app is too bad. It does the job. I don't have any complaints. I don't need fancy interfaces anyway, just something that works fast. What do miss or don't like in the app?

I've said this here before, but the Boss app could be much snappier, and have an "undo" functionality like the Helix app does.

It could also have many more save slots like the Helix app does. That all being said the Eventide H9 app is much better than either the Boss or Helix apps.

I personally don’t even mind the design, it’s not winning any awards for aesthetics but it’s functional. There are a few things that feel unintuitive or missing but generally no real complaints.

Fair enough on Darkglass, I know a few people who said it ran great but they might be lucky!!!

I think with Boss it’s the clunky slow apps that really bug me. The fact that they don’t have much in the way of content additions makes it feel like a legacy product rather than the flagship. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by other products where regular quality of life improvements/updates are the norm. It’s not a cheap bit of kit and when you buy something like this you’re not just buying the unit but into the ecosystem, even if you choose not to use anything other than the hardware itself.

Finally filled my Rockboard 2.1 only had about 10-15 mins to play with the Longsword but it’s great! It’s so sparkly

That’s both fx loops occupied now so don’t have the sub out option.

Thinking of returning to having Main L/R split so only the right channel has cab sims applied so I can have left to my amp and right to a DI for FOH.

Im actually going for a jam a local band in a couple of weeks so might finally have a reason to care about FOH soon

What are others doing? Anyone else with a similar setup?

I have only 1 external pre-amp and I have it after the Core. Mainly for simplicity (which is my friend when playing live, ..insert facepalm :)).

I posted a picture of my board before but I will do it again to inspire you to replace those ugly Core knobs, especially with those nice looking pre's next to it ! :)

Not using any cab sim? They look awesome! Are they just standard pots or do you need something special?

Those knobs I took from my GT-8 that's having a closet life now. Those GT-8 knobs have a position marker, of course the Core rotaries don't need those. I cannot tell you where to buy suchs knobs but I think you know your way on the web:thumbsup:.

I am using the SansAmp amp/speaker sim that is tried and tested for a long time. FOH-people connect their XLR with convidence to this setup. I tried to recreate this SA-sound with the Core and got real close but decided to keep the SA in case there is no FOH and I have to work with an amp (EQ) I don't know. With the SA I have a good 'hands-on' option.

Succes with you're jam!

Edit: the X-drive works REALLY well in front of the SansAmp:hyper:
