PS @BEADist I realise I didn't really answer the question but I've tried to color code it in relation to a typical GT1000core signal chain here

This all got me thinking, if you pan left/right could you potentially use the stereo as a separate paths all together almost like an additional fx loop?

So use the Right input on the Core, Right main out into a reverb or some other pedal, then back into the Left input and finally use the left out as your main out?

I never looked into it much because of no fx loops making it not a 'center piece'.

Other than that it looks much more interesting than the Boss Core, much less 'rigid'.

Looking forward to your review :D.

Haha well tbh the lack of fx loops is the main thing that is stopping me from pulling the trigger.

You can use in/out 2 as an fx loop but thats pretty restrictive!

Haha well that's ok then!

I keep flapping between trying to find a 2nd hand Core or go for something a little more out there like a Mod Dwarf. Anyone had any experience with the Dwarf?

never heard of the Mod Dwarf. Just looked at the website. Seems more like a controller for plugins to me.

What is most important is the sound. Does it sound better than the GT1000?

So in terms of FX, from reading peoples reviews the Mod really excels for stuff like noise rock and stuff like that. It has some incredible reverbs and delays, combined with the completely unrestricted routing options you can create very unique sounds. The distortion fx are really good too.

You can also now do Neural models of your amp/fx so in theory, while theres a lack of fx loops I could create a model of my analog pedals and use that.

Here’s a demo from JaredGunstonTV on using the Gigcaster. There’s a section on playing an instrument through the units GT 1000 effects and amps. Some other interesting bits of info as well.

This interests me as a convenient do-it-all. The smaller model is neat, but I like that the Gigcaster 8 records as well.

Yeah I think chances of an update are slim.

I still think Boss would be on to a win with the GT1000 if they upped the feature/enhancement update cadence more inline with a tech product. Regular releases usually mean regular content on social media, especially YouTube and more exposure for the product etc. Even a quarterly or every 6 months would generate some hype.

From my experience the GT1000 wins against other products in terms of latency and audio quality but unfortunately it just lacks the presence, which means a fairly unengaged community. Tone hub was too late and very half-arsed.

Still wanna get my hands on the GT1000core again and a Mod Dwarf, sadly other things keep cropping up and eating into my gear fund, mostly the child!

Yet another delay pedal from Boss. This one’s an all analog delay. A demo I saw from Andertons Music Co YouTube video sounded pretty awesome on guitar.

BOSS - DM-101 | Delay Machine
One thing I like about the Core is that I don't have to GAS over most of these specialized pedals. :D The 101 might have a slightly more analog tone, but I'm pretty sure the GT can do almost everything the 101 does, and a lot more....

At the moment I'm trying to formulate plans for upcoming Gainful Employment paycheques and I'm very torn between the CORE or the GX-100. At the moment I'm leaning CORE since the size factor is very appealing and because in so many other ways the two units are more-or-less at parity. But then I think about how I would be shelling out extra money if I wanted an expression and/or more footswitches, and I start to learn more towards GX-100 again... What I really need is for Boss to quickly release a small form-factor GX-100CORE at a lower price point, and solve the dilemma for me! Though I'll admit that I'm GASing most badly for a BDDI right now, multi-fx be damned.

That is an issue with the Core. It’s a compact, tidy, little thing, but after you add a bunch of cables, an expression pedal, and a couple of foot switches - not so compact!
