Another option would be to use the Divider Dynamics controls. It works by using your picking dynamics to determine if the signal will go through A or B Channels. So it doesn't work off what note you're playing, but rather how strongly or softly you're playing that determines where the signal will go. Example, if you play strongly on the D and G strings, the signal will go to the A Channel. If you play softly on the E and A strings, the signal will go to the B Channel. I don't think the Dividers Filter controls can be precise enough in determining what channel to go through.

Channel A: POLAR+ = Only notes picked more strongly than the SENS setting will be output.

Channel B: POLAR- = Only notes picked more softly than the SENS setting will be output.

Is it possible to split the frequency in a divider at an arbitrary cutoff? I want to have a completely different effects chain for notes above the D (or any other note i choose).

Looking at the manual, it seems like there is a very limited set of cutoff frequencies. Also, it doesn't seem like I can set the rate of cut off (I'd like to have the option of making this as rigid as a step function)

EQ points are all hardcoded values on the GT1000.

Even if you had complete control over EQ points though you’d never be able to single out individual notes in that way. A single note on a bass guitar is very complex and is made up of a whole spectrum of frequencies.

Yes, this is true. Would be neat if there was a filter that could dampen secondary harmonics too. I've learned that with the hx stomp, you can do some modeling to convert the largest amplitude wave into something like a square and then feed that into a synth model. That might be an OK way to deal with the harmonics but not sure how well it would really work in practice (just saw it in ac YouTube video)

Yeah it’s a shame Boss didn’t include any of their synth stuff and kept it all in the SY pedals.

I’ve been using an HX Stomp for the past several years and despite taking very good care of it, the USB port still broke so I picked up a Core to take its place.
I’m struggling to figure this thing out. The manual is nearly pointless and there’s not much out there to learn from.
I’m debating returning it I’m getting that frustrated with certain things
It’s a new system, but very easy once you figure it out. Editing on the desktop program makes it easy.

Oh, there are some good editing videos on you tube that show how to create a sound. They are usually for guitar, so you’ll have to suffer through that, but you can learn what things the core can do then apply them to your sound.

I had 3 HX in 3 different points in time and I did not manage to make it cut in a band context at all. Yes, the UI, especially the desktop editor is great.
But the GTCore sounds way better ..... (this come s from a guy who did not like Boss pedals until recently after playing bass and using effects pedals for more than 30 years)

I've had exactly the same experience. Spent several hours after every rehearsal/gig tweaking/rebuilding my patches because never got a sound in a band mix that I loved. I've got the GTCore for a year now and can't be more satisfied. Super minor tweaks every now and then.

The parameter guide, not the manual, is pretty helpful IMHO. Try giving that a look. Also, don't underestimate the input gain tweaking option. Aim for the little arrow playing as hard as you will normally.

Boss' approach to MFX modeling (which I love) is definitely NOT the same as other brands'. You will not have 50 amp/pedals models to choose from which are based on real units, but rather models engineered to sound unique and optimized for the different use-cases (eg. X-comp, x-dist, etc.)

Here are the patches that I use with different bands with my approach to multiband processing (distorted high/mids only) and you can start from there!

I keep seeing that referred to in the manual, but it’s not in the download page and I can’t find it online anywhere else.

I tried the input gain settings, but by the time I reached that bar, I could hear the distortion on every bass I owned active or passive

Parameter Guide:

BOSS - Support - GT-1000CORE - Owner's Manuals

(the link says manual but goes to parameter guide)

Edit: to me, this parameter guide contains much more useful info compared to the 'manual'!

The GT 1000 Ultimate Guide applies the GTCore as well.

Having played with it for about a week, I have to say that overall I’m pretty happy with the unit outside of a couple gripes and a few issues that I can’t figure out.
First off, who the hell uses 5 delays? Locking those blocks to delay instead of fx seems like a huge waste.
Secondly, does anyone not have to bump their input settings up 16db on all of their basses to hit that line?
Thirdly, why does the backup export take 10 minutes? Am I doing something wrong?

Question. I split my signal early on to highs and lows, then rejoin them for effects, then split them again at the end to run to different amp sims. I would love to have a mono signal out before the amp sim split to send to my amp on stage while the mains go out to FOH as separate highs and lows. No matter what settings I use, it only sends the lows out on the send. Is this doable?

any help with these would be greatly appreciated.
My next task is integrating it with the Katana for my guitar work

Some guitarists use a delay>reverb>delay configuration for whatever reason. And if you’re switching between two channels in a preset, that’ll use up 4 delay blocks.

A video on the input setting
