Boss GT-10B

@ gastric

Yeh, its pretty much saving the volume you set it to when you write it, was fiddling around with it the other night checking the volume fix, but think the fix only affects the effect level. I have to look into it deeper trying the Eq or the pre amp gain and volume values. I don't think that the fix l posted is the be all end all, but hope others can chime in on how they have set it up so that patches are of a similar volume level.

Question, can I set up a compressor and use the expression pedal as a volume boost after the compressor. This way the compressor clamps things, then use the boost to control dynamics?
Place the FV pedal after the compressor effect in the signal chain line up.
If you use the GT-10BFxFloorBoard patch editor, it is a matter of drag & drop the compressor and fV (Volume) pedal.
The FV is controlled in the Pedal/Fx (Wah) part.

Can anyone tell me how to set the expression pedal to work with the sub-wah? I don't know if I accidentally shut it off somehow or if it's just not working. I remember it working before but I might have errantly screwed it up.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me. I can't find anything pertaining to this in the manual, yet when I go to master/pedal FX and look in either pdlfx or assign, it shows it is assigned to WAH. I don't get it.

There are 3 different Wah's in the GT-10B, the main one as you have seen with the EXP automatically assigned.
The other two are in FX1 and FX2, and the pedal position needs to be manually assigned like this..

**********FX-1***********

[FX-1: On/Off] = On
[FX-1 Select:] = SUB WAH
[SWAH: Type] = CRY WAH
[SWAH: Pedal Pos] = 100
[SWAH: Pedal Min] = 0
[SWAH: Pedal Max] = 100
[SWAH: Effect Level] = 100
[SWAH: Direct Level] = 0

and

**********Assign 1***********

[On/Off] = On
[Target] = FX1: SWAH Pdl Position
[Min] = 0
[Max] = 100
[Source] = EXP1 PDL
[Source Mode ] = Moment
[Act Rng Lo] = 0
[Act Rng Hi] = 127

Really looking forward to receiving Gastric's GT-10B :D

My entire USER patch from the GT-10B was backed up with the librarian and uploaded to my GT-10B page in case you do want to try a factory reset. There's not a lot of global EQ or input / output gain changes applied. You should be able to plug-n-play and keep whatever patches do something pleasing for you.

Some notes with my USER patches.

* Not all are custom patches. Some are still just copies of factory patches I never overwrote.
* You'll note some do nothing, MIDI control only, are for looper only. They may or may not be clearly labeled as such.
* Nearly all of the synth specific patches were designed with a BOSS OC-2 with OCT1 soloed in the FX LOOP. If you don't have just an OC-2 in your loop I'd suggest NOT plugging anything into the FX LOOP to start with as some of the patches push +30dB through the loop to overdrive the OC-2.

Question, can I set up a compressor and use the expression pedal as a volume boost after the compressor. This way the compressor clamps things, then use the boost to control dynamics?

I imagine there are many ways to do this. I use the EXP pedal toward the end of my effects chains as a foot volume pedal (FV), and programmed the EXP PEDAL SW to give a +20 dB boost. That way I'd get the boost only when I really meant it by stepping down hard on the pedal to activate the switch.

Thanks to Gastric I was able to find this thread. Does anybody else here have trouble with the bass synth effect not working like it should. Mine sounds extremely garbled and muffled and cuts out badly. I started a new thread on this topic yesterday but wanted to post the question in this thread, too. I've tried all the suggestions I received but no joy.

Ouch.

* What does it sound like when you run through the heapdhone jack on the GT-10B?
* What does the non-synth effects sound like? For example, the touch-wah up - does the filter open or does it also stay really low and dark?
* What does it sound like with a different bass?
* If the touch wah and synth sound low/dark/poor then it sounds like an input sensitivity issue.

Check the system input gain, check the input sensitivity setting. Last resort backup all your custom patches with the librarian or floorboard editor and then do a factory reset.

It sounds just as bad through the headphones. All the other effects work great. The touch-wah sounds good, opens up nicely. The system input level is at 0dB. Where do I find the input sensitivity setting? I haven't tried another bass, yet. I only have one so I need to borrow a bass from a friend of mine. I've gone through all the preset patches that have the synth effect in the chain and I can hear that the synth effect is not working right.

I just sold my GT-10B so I can't offer any additional help. But I checked the user manual and the input sensitivity I was thinking of was for assigns when you're using input envelope to control assigns.

The fact you've tried two different GT-10B with the same result would seem to indicate some other issue. I'm going to guess low output of your instrument, but that's just a guess. With my basses I'd usually set the touch wah sens to 15 or so, otherwise it's fly wide open too easily. Maybe try a different instrument, or try increasing the global input to see if that increases sensitivity.

Note the whole unit is a DSP so it's not likely a single effect in the unit can die while letting the rest work.

Just throwing out ideas for you.

Sorry to pester you guys with another problem but I downloaded and installed the floorboard. It looks impressive but when I go to 'connect' it tells me the driver isn't installed (it is), set the proper midi selection (input and output are set to GT10b) or set driver mode to advanced (I did). So I ran the debug mode included in the floorboard and get the message:

Patch data transfer wrong size or data error
Please make sure the GT-10b is connected properly and re-try

Everything looks like it should work.

If this has already been adressed in this discussion, my apologies. I did a search of the thread and it showed no results.

Thanks in advance.
