ok, sussed this bit out and checked agains tuner, had to do pitch -2 for my needs, the problem i have is a weird kind of wah effect, maybe reverb, dunno technical stuff, cant see anything that can be causing it

I tried the same, with the pitch filter and the pedal. Both sounded too artificial to use it, so I still with bass.

I guess that realistic pitch shift is the weakest point of the GT-1B

Just switch all effects and amp modeling "OFF",
then save the patch with the name "BYPASS".
it will then be a digital bypass.

Also using the TUNER in Bypass mode will do the same.

Fabulous, I’ll give that a go, my normal bass sound is pretty good, but the reason I bought the pedal is, being in a covers band, I need some versatility, which it gives me, but I can’t get my amp tone.

If using into the front input of a bass amp, switch 'off' the GT-1B preamp on each patch, and set the output select to "Line/Phones".
This will set your tone quite 'neutral' and use the GT-1B for effects only.

Hi!
I use the Boss Gt-1b with IEMs and/or FOH, so I always use it in Line/Phones mode, with the cabsim always on.
But, then, I rehearse with an amp, that I bypass, so that I use my sound always from the multiFX. In order to get a nice representation, I would like the cabsim off, but although I change the settings fot Amp with Twetter the cabsim doesn't turn off automatically. Even more, in this setting I am allowed to change cabsim's settings, which doesn't make any sense
Do I have to turn this manually off? Or double the patches for the rehearsal? Am I missing sth?

Usually headphones plugged in will force the GT units (I assume the GT-1B is the same) into "Line/phones" output select mode.
This will force enabled cab sims on.

I have just tried this. No, it doesn't force it to line/phones; neither does enable cab sim.
Thanks for replying anyway.
What I'm actually looking for is the opposite, automatically disabling while amp output is chosen.
The strangest thing is that, the gadget is supposed(boss manual) to switch off cabsim while amp output is chosen, but that's not happening.

I'm new to using special effects and have the Boss GT-1B. I saw this demo of using a bass to sound like a cello. Thought it would be really cool and useful. Just wondering if this can be done with the GT-1B reasonably well? From watching it and reading the comments it looks like technique in playing is a big part of it which I know i'll have to work on....as far as applying this to configure a patch for the GT-1B I'm hoping someone can help figure out how to set this up as my knowledge and skill level with this sort of thing isn't quite up to par yet. TIA!

Rate: 15 Depth: 70 Res 88 Man 71 Low cut: flat E.Level 80 D.Level 0

Delay
Time: 400ms. FB: 50. E.Level 52. High Cut: 600hz

Reverb
Type: Plate. Time: 1.6s. E.Level 50 Low Cut: 160htz High Cut. 4Khtz


Duff Chorus 1 Effect
Chorus
Rate:20. Depth:75. E.level:100. Mode: Mono Low Cut: Flat. High Cut: Flat

Right, they probably ain't amazing settings but I'm totally happy for anyone's suggestions. I just want to get the ball rolling.

For the Cello effect, you would typically use the FX1 Slow Gear and plate Reverb with lots of effect and minimal time.
Maybe throw in FX2 de-fretter as well.

Thanks gumtown!, I'll look into it.... may take me a while to figure it out. If any experienced users out there have a chance to play around with the settings and could let me know some specifics to start with that would be wonderful as well. I really like how this thread started....for new users just plunk in these numbers. Hopefully after i've had a chance to play with a few I want need as much "hand holding"...but it's a steep learning curve at the start. Much appreciated!

I am not only new to this Boss thingy but to effects in general, and the only thing I really want to achieve is to get some sounds à la Tool... their bassist has quite an impressive chain of effects, and I guess all of that should be more or less on board the GT-1b:



Any idea where to start and how to do it? The sound(s) should be somehow like this:






My main bass is a Yamaha TRBX with Fender roundwounds (I like the touch), Amp is a Markbass Mini CMD 121 P with a 151 P box. We play some grunge/alternative/indie stuff.

Here is something I have been working on, I present GT-1BFxFloorBoard editor software, free for all to use.

It can do the same stuff as Tone Studio + more.
Print out patch parameter settings, and patch lists.
Copy and paste effect partials....
Open load and convert patch files from the GT-1, GT-100/001, GT-10B, GT-6B, GT-8, and many other Boss devices.

I've been playing through flat speakers and I couldn't figure out why the amps all sounded harsh... For some reason as default on every amp model, cabs are switched off.

I look forward to posting my patches when I get time and trying patches from here ... I'd really like a Fieldy / KoRn patch, any ideas?

Being a 'new release' some AV systems might see it as untrustworthy, I can't afford the $$$$$$$ to get it Microsoft certified for free software.
But I can assure you the software is virus checked before uploading, and SourceForge is a reputable hosting site.
