Boss new wireless WL-50 and WL-20

I'm using a Shure GLXD wireless unit now, but this WL-20 really has my interest up. Plugging that little receiver into my Super Bassman, and that transmitter into my bass, sure looks hassle free for setup and tear down.

I would snap that 1/4" plug off in the output jack while playing if I used it on any of my Fender Jazz or P basses.

That's the one thing that sort of concerns me, too. All of my basses have side jacks, but I could see myself banging it into something and snapping it off.

Yeah, I know. I just like the simplicity of these style units. I'm sure I'll just stick with my Shures (I have both the pedal version and the amp-top version-I'm currently using the latter with both transmitters since I'm not running a board anymore).

well, they claim a 2.3ms latency (G10 is like 4ms, Shure GLDX can go up to 9ms).
let's see if that's true.

I don't mean to interfere with this thread but the Line 6 G10's latency from analog in to analog out is 2.7ms.

thanks for correcting me, no clue where I did get the 4ms, I've googled some tests and it indeed is 2.7ms, not 4ms.

btw, if Line6 guys are already in this thread (at least @ArneW), I would like to highlight now the main thing why I'm considering a Boss as un upgrade for my G10.

Boss WL-50: 9v, up to 330mA while charging. I can plug this into my ISO Brick to a 450mA 9v out.
Line 6 devices: USB, G70/75, according to manual, can also accept 9v, but up to 500mA.

guys, could we please get a renewed G10 with ability to use a standard pedalboard supply and maybe slightly improved latency as well? an input jack on the unit would be very nice too (you won't have to unplug the wireless from your board if you need to use a cable instead).

i think the G10 was never meant to be a gigging wireless, just as something for messing around at home or in the garage. (its latency is already close to the best around though, less than 3ms.)

maybe the aging relay G30 should be retired for a "G20" or something, a similar one-piece dongle but plugging into a more pedalboard-worthy base station that took normal power and maybe had the aux in jack.

Aging or not, the g30 works really well. Battery life on Duracell's is great. 6+ hours. In my case I like the receiver on my floor board, the idea of a dongle hanging from my bass doesn't do it for me.

Maybe I'll get the call tomorrow, but until I do I'm expecting to get my WL-20L from Sweetwater at "the end of July." I did order fairly early on.

That little box sticking out of my jack wouldn't last a gig. It would get snapped off quick.

I like a lot about this little unit. But I'll never try one because I would have a box hanging out of my bass. It would look dumb (in my view) and likely get broken quickly.
