Boss new wireless WL-50 and WL-20

I tested it last 2 day and last night I had 4hr long rehearsal.

My guitarist use Line 6 G10 so we compare it side by side. (and switch to use it.)

It was good. range is slightly better than G10 ( almost same though). after 4 hr rehearsal, battery indicator was still green.

But... be aware that WL20 and G10 both have some issue with some active instrument. (which use TRS plug for audio ground and battery ground.)

It is well known issue with G10 and same issue on WL20 ( and pretty sure with WL50 too which use TRS transmitter.)

It may makes some noise, bad connection, or even instrument's pre amp is not working. (one of my ovation guitar)
I have 4 active Bass and guitar and 2of them have a prbolem. all passive bass was fine.

to fix this problems,

1. May use TS - TS shorty extension

2. invert Ring and Sleeve connector on bass plug.

other than that I am really happy with WL20L.

Biggest issue I'm having is the transmitter doesn't seat well in my Rickenbacker for some reason, can't figure out right now. Very annoyed, but I'm gonna get a TS extension and pouch for my strap to hopefully resolve. We'll see at tonight's gig. 2 ways to know that transmitter isn't making good connection is the sound is super muffled and quiet or there is high pitch quiet hum that goes away after you adjust the adapter. Definitely not ready to solely rely on this thing yet. Sadly I'm super impressed with the sound, so I don't want to give up. I'd prefer not to use an extension and pouch, but I will if needed.

The problem is not caused by hotter outputs.

Most of active bass output port has TRS connection. Tip for +, Ring and Sleeve is battery - and audio ground vice versa..
If Ring is a battery - and it is connected to WL Transmitter's Ring, problem happend.

so I changed wire on bass's output as Ring for ground and Sleeve for battery -. That is what can I solve the problems.

I know it is annoying but it is also well known problem on Line6 G10.

You may have same problem what I had.
TS extension may resolve your problem. But if you use TRS extension, it will be same problem.

Hmm.. That is weird. all of my passive instrument didn't have any problems.

I had exactly same problem you described with my Ibanez SR 1805.
When I just touched transmitter, it makes noise and sound was changed.

so temporary I use TS - TS extension, it was solved.

now I re-wiring SR1805's output so invert between Ring and Sleeve, it is super clean, clear sound, and dead quiet when I touch the transmitter.

Probably because the entire design philosophy of this class of wireless systems are that you don't need a pouch and lead cable. So you might as well buy some other model rather than have Boss in this case produce a fix which looks like the other class of gear, or have to say it won't work like XVive did with their U2.

Because they came out with a model that they said was optimized for active basses I guess the hope was that the interference problem that this class of transmitter have was licked. Looks like it is not. As with their competition you may or may not get that whiny noise

that might be because of the whole stereo ric-o-sound thing, one jack is TRS stereo while the other is switching.

are you saying it doesn't mechanically click into place like it should or that you're getting sound problems?

I have sound problems, but it seems to be related to it not sitting tightly in the Rickenbacker jack. If I hold it in just right, it sounds great, or if I get it right, it sounds good until I move around some and it loosens. I haven't played it with any other bass yet, will do that later today, plus test with a TS extension. I like the TS extension anyways as I'd worry about hitting it normally.

really? is there a mini-usb port to download new cable models like Mogami or Cheap Radio Shack from a special webpage??? This is the dumbest idea any marketing department has come up with in at least the last 3 weeks. I mean, there is still a cable between the receiver and the amp???
I don't like the transmitter. Could be disturbing on a Fender with the input on the front of the body. And looks cheap like those wireless system you can buy for 50 bucks via Amazon. I like body packs...
