My GLXD-4 has an xlr out as well as the 1/4 out' which makes for a very compact di if you just want that to go to Foh. Ive never tried it, but I'm pretty shure you can send the 1/4 to your rig, and the xlr tho foh. I normally send a colored signal from my amp to foh, so I'll try that next week
How can this be disturbing? No problem at all, unless your right arm is all over the bass body for some strange reason. And I don't care how it looks, I like that it works. If you want to make a body pack, plug in an extension cable and put the transmitter in your back pocket or whereever.
where you're right, you're right... I even use non-angled plugs on my Fender basses. I just don't like it and was emberassed about that snake-oil marketing (cable sound modeling).
why would that be snake oil?
I'm thinking about an L joint for my J bass, but I may go the route of a short extension in my pocket.
Not snake oil, legit tone stuff. The off is sterile and harsh, short is about what you'd be used to and long is for guitarist. It really is just about the resistance on your pickups normally, but it's emulating it rather than actually changing it.
I am in the process of trying to get a refund or return. I have tried with cable extensions and still get a random very muted weak signal. When it works, it works well, but that's only been about 1 in 10 chance of it working. I've tried it in several environments, so I'm fairly sure it's not interference.
i'd try for a swap-out for another one, if you're doing it right (letting the two pieces sync up and look for a clear channel before pulling them apart) then you obviously have a bad one.
Learning from that G10 usage of internal battery that finally would come to the end of its lifetime, if it were me, I'd make an analogy of GLX-D14/16 usage of proprietary battery. Despite the GLX-D16 battery are user removable and seems no one has complained about its lifetime, still I would either choose another wireless system with more commonly found and cheaper to replace (which could also be rechargeable) AA batteries, or if I've already owned the GLX-D system, I'd buy few spares of that proprietary battery, while they are still available in the market, so that I could use the wireless system in long years to come.
If the Shure does prove to be the right choice I will be sure to pick up spare batteries. Though I get your point on a system that can use AA batteries in a pinch, I would still rather not have to buy endless packs of them and constantly change them out. A good rechargeable (even though proprietary) battery that is long lasting, still sounds like a much better option for me.
