What I meant is the video is an amateur video of two guys in a basement playing 3 notes for 5 minutes to snare fills... I’m still torn between both so going to hold out a little longer for better sy1 demo

I guess borne of a desire to share my (albeit 'first world') angst that the only bass focused review of this pedal in the entire planet to date, was soooo badly put together!! Why couldn't someone with a half decent ability to put the pedal through its paces have got their hands on one instead of those guys?

But hopefully not long now before those of us who have been patiently waiting, some even selling off pedals to put us in funds and / or to clear some pedal board real estate, will be able to get our hands on this thing. And all will be well with synth bass-world once more

Preordered mine and plan to use the Expression pedal a lot. Love the polyphony, tons of sounds I’ve heard so far and the website truly gives you a small taste of what can be. The Source Audio offering seems like it would be too much PC editing and back and forth transfer madness. Sounds cool though.

It's also impossible to find videos of the pedal that are only of the pedal. Yes most of us wold plug it into a reverb but show me what the pedal does on its own before you turn the video into an EQD Avalanche demo.

I've bitten the bullet and pre-ordered the SY-1 from PMT.

Normally we get hit in the UK with $1 = £1 on US manufactured goods and it's currently even worse with the Source Audio C4 $239 in the US but £249 in the UK.

I kinda wanted to get my payment in before Boss spot that they are not selling at $ parity ($199) in the UK. The SY-1 is on at a relatively 'reasonable' £175 over here at the moment, but if the £ continues to slide that may not last!

Taking a bit of a chance given that I've not heard any decent bass reviews of this yet, but PMT have a 14 day return for online purchases, in case it does turn out to be a dud on bass which I'm really hoping / expecting it not to be!

And btw - whilst we have already remarked that this is not 'fully' pre-settable it does have 121 fairly easy to access presets! That should be enough to keep most of us out of mischief

I was thinking this too in that for the most part would be twisting the dial for select the synth and adjust the tone... not THAT much more than flicking switch on the c4 hey? Hmmm

I dunno, that is pretty common when it comes to synth demos in general. I get what you're saying but there are a ton of synths that don't really come alive until you add reverb, saturation, etc.

But you should still know what the base sound is before you add your flavors of delay and reverb.

I'm curious if it will respond similar to the OC-3's polyphonic mode, where it kind of softens and blurs the attack to give it the leeway to handle multiple notes. That's the reason I don't use that mode on the OC-3, because the monophonic modes are much more immediate. That's something you can't really be sure about from videos so I'm pretty eager to try it. If it responds as well as a monophonic pedal I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do to the wife.
