Hello all,
Just stumbled across this thread. I have an OB-4 fretless with roundwounds that I got back in2013, I think. Plays and sounds great. Havent seen one with the rectangle fret markers on here. I dont know if its a newer or older one. I am thinning my herd, and would be willing to part with it.
Crazy story, I got it from GC. They said it had a broken truss rod. I got it for a stupid low price, cause I do repairs and thought I could fix the truss rod. I removed the nut only to find the two-way truss rod was in upside down due to the shallow headstock angle. So when the geniuses at GC were "tightening" the truss rod, they were putting it into a backbow. I got it straight right away and have loved it ever since.

I’m looking to purchase a UJB-5. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Bass japan direct he has a long wait list they are very hard to find super rare would probably find bossa ob5 or obj5 first
There is a bossa obj5 at a pawnshop listed on Craigslist for a 1,400 but he will take 1,000 cash for it needs new strings and a set up has some weight on it ebony fret board

I have used a Bossa Fretless since the mid 90's absolutely gorgeous. I bought it used in LA. It came with an extra set of pickups stuck in the compartment in the case. The bass sounds so amazing I have never thought about putting them on. Does anyone know why they came with two sets of pickups. Here is a song I featured it on called Harmony.

Hey you are fortunate it is a great bass, I have one exactly like it. I was having radio interfearance problems with its pickups. What I found after many hours of testing is that they are humbucker (two coil in parallel pickups) but they where wired in series instead of parallel Hum Cancelling Check out the attachement for Parellel Hum cancelling. The bass is as quiet as a mouse now HUGE difference. Its a beautiful sounding bass dont ever let it go!!

So great to hear from other Bossa owners. Yes I agree the original preamp is awesome but I developed some issues with my preamp. Although I love the sound of it. I just could not find anyone who would look at the Bossa preamp. Could not find any information (like a schematic). So I replaced it with a Michael Pope preamp which I have on my other Tobias basses. It's a little different sounding but still sounds incredible with lots of eq choices. Also, I live very close to a couple of TV towers, I was getting severe interference and could only stand in one position when recording. I learned through trial & error (and money trying other pickups), the Bossa pickups each have two coils (just like a humbucker) which were wired in series instead of parallel. So when I re-wired them to parallel (for noise cancellation) the bass was as quiet as a mouse. Solved everything I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced that. The other weird thing was when I bought the bass from Bossa's LA rep back in 1994 or so. The bass came with two sets of pickups. I was wondering if anyone else experienced that. Thank you

The original preamps were made by Tune. They currently sell some preamps. Not sure if these are still identical to the originals.

Interesting thsy have been around for awhile, I will be contacting them next week. I would love to get the preamp serviced. ThenI could just sell the pope preamp. Thanks for the lead!!
Hey, does anyone know the name of the design of the third fretless bass and where I can find one? I noticed that it's the same design Matt Ramsey has and I'm looking to get one. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
