Hey, does anyone know the name of the design of the third fretless bass and where I can find one? I noticed that it's the same design Matt Ramsey has and I'm looking to get one. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Chris, awesome playing and sounding, which Bossa is this? is the fretboard sticky?

I do not really know the model, I think its an earlier fretless. Evertbody els's seem to have a switch this does not. I did post some pictures in my last email. Thanks for the kudos!

my obj 5. pope preamp, hipshot hardware and detuner.

I realize I am quoting a post from a few years ago but I'm wondering how you would describe the differences between the original preamp and the Pope.

The pope preamp has incredible flexibility in choosing the frequencies you want to cut & boost. At least 6 different freq. It accomplishes this by adding and subtracting jumpers on the pots. Thats why "Fodera'' basses at least used to use pope preamps in their basses I don't know about now.
I would still like to fix the original preamp just to be able to swap them out. I read a thread that Tuneguitars.com is now handling any Bossa inquiries, they pawned me off to WSC Music, at [email protected] again dead end they never got back to me. I cannot believe how such a great instrument has just gotten dropped/forgotten by the industry. If anyone knows anything about anyone who can do anything regarding the older Bossa Bass's please let me know. Thank you, Chris Sidwell

I just replaced my knobs from Qparts. They are good to deal with. However, I'm wondering... if you bought that GZP-2 preamp, can you still configure it like Bossa did? I love how you can get that single coil "Jazz Bass" tone by flicking the switch and panning the blend pot.

Thank you scubaduba for that tip. I did see that also. My original preamp works for my Bossa, I cant use it becasue I need the clip that the pickup wires go into and the clip socket thats mounted on the pc board. I cant plug my pickups in. I guess I will just by the pramp again, that is pretty cheap.

In response to your first question Scubaduba about comparing the two preamps. The Pope preamp has a wider effect on all the frequencies of the bass. But, the original Bossa preamp has its own thing/sound going on. I like it too. I really like them both. So it would be cool to swap them out from time to time. Thanks again, Chris

Thanks. I don’t think I’d want to swap out the Bossa pre. I think the preamp and Bossa pickups sound great as is. Pope’s are great too but I find it to have a tendency to be pretty neutral. I was curious how it sounded with the Bossa pickups.

Wow @Sirfishalot , I've never seen a bridge like that on a Bossa. Otherwise, it's almost a twin with mine.
