Bourbon...

A tradition in my wife's family was that each newborn child was given a sealed wooden cask with a bottle of Macnaughton's from that year, to be opened later in life at a significant event.
My wife is in her 50's now. The bottle remains unopened.
I don't like Canadian whiskey, and my wife doesn't like whiskey at all, so it probably never will be opened.

The problem for us [me & the wife] is we have no idea if we'd like it and would hate to find out after we opened it. Probably best to try some at a restaurant [if we can get a pre-approved bank loan:woot:] first.

No, only to be designated as Straight Bourbon.

Edit: You may be right, so not sure about this one. American Whiskey I guess.

Edit 2: Maybe "finishing" is outside of the definition of "Bourbon."

That's the key, finishing.
Angels Envy is another bourbon finished in different barrels. They use port wine barrels.
