I made a mistake Zyex medium not lights.
The issue is the e string is weak. Could it be the bass?

If you’re used to a robust sounding E strings like a Spirocore medium, then you might be disappointed in the Zyex E. I think it's balanced in terms of blending well with the rest of the set, but compared to other E strings it's not as powerful. It's seems like a more than a few bassists substitute a different E string when using Zyex.

I have a full set of Spirocore 3/4 lights on my main bass and I had to go through three E strings before I found one that wasn't dead sounding compared to the rest of the set. It could still be the string, so I would try something else for an E to rule out the string factor. If it still sounds weak, you may want to look into having your setup tweaked. Perhaps a soundpost adjustment will help.

A Spiro medium would be a better tension mix than a light with medium zyex
I’m glad we are finally using the terms “light” and “medium“ rather than “weich” and “mittel“. Thomastik changed the packaging years ago

Have you gotten a strong E that you like on this bass with another string? If not, it could be the sound post position or the bass itself. Try a medium Spiro.
I had a zyex light e no real sound. Switch to Spiro e light not much better.

I just ordered a E medium sprio. Cross your fingers this takes care of the low volume E
I just came upon this old thread. And I have a similar issue with my bass. Zyex lights with an E that just doesn’t pop. Did this solve you problem?
I’ve been playing Zyex mediums with a medium Helicore Hybrid E for some time now and have been pleased with the results.
Same here but I also use a Medium Helicore A. Great all around setup. Bass has never sounded/ played better (fully carved 1962 German shop bass)

I’m currently using (Xyex) lights. But I do have access to a a Spirocore E weich that I can try. Switching to mediums is a possibility, but I’ve always played lights, so I’m a bit leery of changing. Have you always played mediums?
I tried lights a while back just out of curiosity but went right back to mediums. For me, the lights weren’t driving the top like I wanted (or moving enough air, or whatever the term is) and I like to feel a little more string under my fingers.
