At this point, who does he have left to trust? My take on it is that this is the desperate action of a desperate man, determined to win or die at all costs.

Maybe he's planning to shoot up the offices of Gray Matter. He wouldn't be able to accomplish squat with it against Jack.
Although I understand his vendetta against his former partners in Gray Matter, I got the distinct impression that he's also stinging badly from having that much money stolen from him. It represents, as he said, his "life's work."
But now that Walter Jr. made it clear the money means nothing to him, who knows how Walt is going to exact his vengeance at this point. He's about out of options beyond one last blaze of glory; he needs to choose carefully if he wants it to count.
It's pretty dark, and pretty sad, no matter how you slice it. I'm feeling sorry for the innocents in a way I haven't previously. It suddenly got quite real and somber.
And Todd and Uncle Jack & Crew aren't taking any chances either. Still a few loose ends to tie up for them as well.
He didn't have the camera setup just for Walt. This is where the guy brings ALL of his 'clients'. Normally people in this situation are not usually on the up and up, so he has a camera setup in the holding room so he can keep an eye on them.

I didn't think the camera was weird, I thought his saying, "You tell me" the way he did, was. He said it as though he already knew Walt was freaking out, and lo and behold... he turns on the monitor, and Walt is freaking out.
An M60 seems like it would be pretty easy to use. Put the belt in, latch it correctly, close it tight, turn the safety off (if there even is one), shoot 5-8 round bursts. The biggest issue I can see is the recoil, which might be soaked up by the weight of a 20 lb weapon, but I wonder if Walter White has the physical strength to use it. There's also the fact that the barrel tends to need to be changed after 400 rounds or so, but he doesn't look like he has enough ammo to be concerned about that.
It did come with an operating manual, too.

Plus, they're relatively heavy weapons. He's not going to be able to run around like Rambo and change positions with it, that's for sure.
Like I said, if he wants to do anything significant with that machine gun, he's going to have to come up with a really good plan. As we know only Walter White can.
Maybe the ricin is for him to poison Gretchen/Elliot. And maybe whatever he has planned for the MG doesn't call for him walking away alive? (e.g. create distraction for Jesse to escape, or give Jesse the gun to kill him?) After watching Granite State, it seems like he's hellbent on exacting revenge on the Schwartzes for taking away the last of his legacy, so once he takes care of them, what does a dying man have left to do?
For one person, especially a civilian? I guess that would depend on what you consider "easy".

I couldn't believe Todd shot Andrea (or the kid for that) - what a sadistic SOB. I hope he dies a brutal death!
After that last episode Todd has to get killed and it has to be Jesse who kills him. Anything else would be letting the fans down. Now whether or not Jesse lives to tell about it is another thing.
I don't think the ricin is for Lydia. I don't think Walter has a beef with her. The way I see it, there's going to be a showdown with Todd, Jack, and his crew and the ricin is for the Grey Matter folks.
I was actually surprised if he had that big of a beef with Gray Matter. Yeah they were being douchebags in the interview, but if I recall they never screwed Walt over. He sold his stake in the company for $5,000. Then he WAS offered a job. I see GM as being really low on the list of people who deserve to die at his hand, if they're even on the list at all.
Wikipedia speculates that the title of the next episode, "Felina," may refer to Iron (Fe), Lithium (Li), and Sodium (Na). Any thoughts?
I kind of thought he had some pretty deep hatred for Elliot and Gretchen. I'm probably wrong, but I somehow have the belief that Walt and Gretchen had a thing then she chose Elliot, and that lead to the $5000 buyout. Maybe it was the flashback in the backlit classroom or her private call to Walt when she tried to pay for his treatment that makes me think that.
I'm almost sure I'm wrong. I need to re-watch the whole thang sometime.
No I think you're right about them having a thing. But still I'm surprised if he'd still harbour that level of hatred.
