El Paso....Marty Robbins

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

One night a wild young cowboy came in,
Wild as the West Texas wind.

He said it one the Talking Bad teaser for the final episode...but we also know how multi-layered Breaking Bad is.

I immediately thought of El Paso too. The question is which one is Felina. Skyler, who he still misses based on the wedding ring scene, or Gretchen, who professed that he was once a sweet and caring man? At any rate, if the El Paso analogy is correct, Walt will be going out in a blaze of glory next week!

This would be poetic justice in a way. Jesse got corralled into this lifestyle. He was never tough or smart enough. Walter always roped him back in, because Walt, despite his devious mind, is not a loner and always needed Jesse's support and presence. But in the end, I'm starting to see Jesse as a victim about as much as the other innocents.

Also, I can't see Walt targeting anyone other than the Schwartzes. They took his money. They killed his brother in law. Sure, he has vendettas and ill-will toward others, but not on that level.

And someone please explain why Walt would kill Lydia? She never did any harm to Walt.

I think Felina is Gretchen. I wish to restate my opinion on Walts frame of mind with her. Not love,Obsession. She's the key to the power,empire.. the life that he didn't have (Screwed out of?/threw away out of pride?) In the Song is Felina is wicked ,teasing.

I think I remember psychopaths as being intelligent from one of the too many Psychology classes I've taken.

He is smart in a lot of ways, but couldn't catch on to proper cooking techniques. His smarts are all based in his lizard brain, survival and everything connected to it.

The calmness is his voice when he had the hooded chat with Skyler was unnerving.

At the same time, he felt bad when his uncle whacked Hank, convinced Lydia not to whack Skyler and her kids, convinced uncle Jack not to whack Jesse, and even gave him some ice cream...two flavors! He's definitely a complex character.
