Brian Bromberg Carvin Model Part 2

This crazy weather played havoc on the neck tension this week on my B25S! Not unusual, I know, but I am surprised how bad it was before I adjusted truss rod.

My bass took about 2 or 3 months to stabilize....but the climate and temp in Colorado can extremely change from day to night or even in a matter of hours. My neck hasn't moved in a while....knock on wood.

--hoping to hear something on the preamp this week---

Hoping to hear? Don't wait, contact them!

Yeah, I figured that the newness of it might be a factor also. It was just such a sudden change it surprised me. I also have realized the intonation is off, will need to adjust that.

Here in Indiana, temps went from highs in the low 50's to the a high around 83 to 87 in two days. All 3 of my basses and my upright were all screwed up from it. My piccolo had actually bowed inward enough to the point that the first two frets just made a grinding buzz instead of a note.

I have a question, who hasn't made a Brian Bromberg bass? Just sayin. he's a phenom for sure. I gues next year squire will come out with one. Speaking of squire I played one of the new VM jaguar with the single MM pickup. For only $199 it has huge potential. remember you read it first here :-)

Maybe we'll see a Squier when he gets to the point where all he needs in a signature bass is a sticker or a color other than the 3 factory choices available....:hiding:

phillybass101, the music business is no different then any other business. How many athletes change teams in their careers? How many recording artists change record labels? How many people get different jobs in their lifetime?

It can take a long time to get the mojo right, or the bass right, or the chemistry right, or the business right, etc....

Most people have good intentions in business, but sometimes things just don't work out for many reasons. In fact I am touched and honored that in my career I have had the opportunity to work with several companies with my bass design. That tells me that #1 the design makes sense and is real or these companies would not be interested or willing to put their reputation on the line for an artist model. And #2 that they believe in me enough as an artist and person to want to do business with me and they see the value in that. Both of those are very important things and personally for me very touching and rewarding. We all work very hard to get where we are in life as their are no "gimmies" in the music business. What you do and how you do it speak for you as you can't pretend to be able to play well. You either do or you don't, and that is earned by thousands of hours of hard work and dedication to your craft. You can't fake it when you are on a stage or in a session paying with others live.

I have met some lifelong friends working with these companies as well as all of the education I got from seeing their business models and manufacturing techniques.

With that said I was proud to be involved with Peavey for a number of years and helping to develop the B-Quad basses. In many ways they were way ahead of their time and helped take Peavey to a whole new level. Now at Carvin all the years of working with so many talented people has helped us create a bass that I will put up against any bass out there at almost any price point.

Nothing is perfect in this world and there is no magic bass out there, there is only the bass out there that speaks to you.
Some are better then others, some are prettier then others, some are more expensive then other and on and on...

I again am thankful for all of the companies I have worked with in the past, good and bad as all of it teaches you.

And, I must admit it's pretty cool when bass players come up to me when they hear the Carvin B2's and go Holy Sh-t, what kind of bass is that and what kind of pick ups are those? Your bass sounds amazing! It's quite rewarding when that happens specially when I am playing the stock basic B2S model that's about a $1,000 and they are playing a bass that is easily two to three times as much money!

It took a long time to get here, but i am very glad to have arrived here with the basses that we have developed.................B2

By squire I assume you mean Squier. No, they won't be coming out with a Bromberg model, and I suspect Brian and Carvin will have a very long relationship.

Many people have mentioned the VM Jag as being a great buy. We didn't read it from you first.

Next, why don't you walk in to a Porsche dealership and tell everyone who will listen to you that Ford really makes a great pickup truck?

Mine is a 1 piece.

I've been trying to figure out if I should order a one piece or multi piece neck for stability. I guess its more about the quality of the neck and truss rod than the number of neck lamination's.
My Nordy P5 is stable too. One piece Maple neck and board. Its as stable as a lead pipe. Thanks

Well, what do you expect from a person who lists "Ronald Kool Bell" as an influence. Ronald is not Kool....Robert is.

Go for the multi lam neck. Of all my Carvin basses, the multi have been the most stable...

Are you talking about the five piece Maple neck? What effect do you think the multi laminate necks have on the sound of your basses. Good, bad, no effect?

5 piece maple & walnut and 5 piece maple and koa are the only multi Carvins I own. No tonal differences that I can hear...just never had to readjust any of the my Carvins that are multi.
