Interesting. Have you tried going one gauge heavier?
No. You could, but I chose to go light for comfort. Those light strings can feel very sharp even with 30lbs or so of tension.

Bummer! My guess is they just put the wrong preamp (probably SB5000) and won't admit it. But that's not a bad preamp, and active/passive selection is a good option.
You could sell the bass here and get another...
Grateful said:I don't think it's an SB, unless it's the one with mid-sweep and blend. I think it is the same as the BB and others that have individual string volume control. But i don;t know and they aren't saying.
Either way, I feel a little deceived and dismissed. Especially considering that I've bought 3 brand-new basses from them in the last 4-5 months. But man, they are just great basses.
But, if you like the way it sounds...let it be. But I'd make it a point to tell the Mark Kiesel directly about this situation...see what he thinks. Don't get Brian involved...get the owner of Carvin involved.
Has anyone gotten one in moss green with blackburst edges, or just the moss green? I would LOVE to see how that looks![]()
Any success on getting that preamp corrected?
