Brice HXB-405 Short Scale 5-string!

My Brice HXB 5 is a short scale fretless
My first 5ver
As expected I'm going to swap out the pick ups and strings
The only feacher I did not like was the sharp edge on the fret board witch I rounded off
The bass is well constructed and balanced its also light.

I have been eye-balling that for some time now. The only thing holding me back is lack of string sets. Labella and DR are the only ones making sets for it from what I have heard.

Go to Bass Strings Online. Go to Medium scale (short scale strings are too short) Go to La Bella Deep Talkin'- (I prefer the flat wound set.) 4 or 5 string? Select the gauge you want. Then check off through body. I play the 5-string tuned E to C; I get the 4 string set, and then get a high C separately. Jason is very good about putting this together. This about the only place I know of that gives you options on both length and gauge.

Medium scale 32" strings are the desired length.. The gauge is up to you, but a heavier string is usually a better choice.

What about dead spots? (Places on the neck with reduced resonance/sustain.) 32" scale basses are supposed to be much less susceptible to this problem than 34" ones; what is your experience with this bass?
