Brice?

Now let me get this straight, Rondo receives the merchandise packed from South Korea. They then just ship it out to the customer without opening the box to make certain that everything is alright?

So, what makes it then so certain that, if I return the faulty bass that I won't get another "dog"? If it is Rondomusic's business just to check the returned complaints it makes me wonder what kind of policy they have? In my experience it's a lot cheaper and more sufficient to check each and every item personall and make certain that everything is in order. Rondomusic would save a lot of money in shipping and gain more satisfied customers, that's what successful business is all about.
I did a lot of exporting in my life and personally made certain that the merchandise was 100% in order before I ship it out to the consumer. It's easy to get a bad reputation. South Korean manufacturers do pretty good jobs if you as an importer are "on your toes". Good examples are Conklin GT-7s, Cort Artisans, etc., etc.

Not only IMO, but it 's a fact: If you provide shoddy merchandise to your customer, your quality control stinks, no matter in what country your manufacturer is located.
Like I said, they probably don't have the time to go through and check all of them. I imagine that if you send one back they will make sure you don't get a lemon the second time so they don't lose too much money in shipping (because they pay for you to ship it back). If you want an honest and correct answer (I'm going by what I've heard) then E-mail Kurt and as him. He will gladly respond, he's a nice guy.

I'm thinking of getting the Brice Ash 5, but the more i dig for reviews, the more i get confused... Some say it's a great bass, just as good as MIM Fenders. Some say it's crap. Some say Rondomusic are nice guys, and some hate them...
Who should I listen to? The bass looks great at rondomusics website. I've read some good reviews of it at HarmonyCentral, I think. Virtually, it doesn't cost any money at all, and since I can't afford the Fender Marcus Miller 5-string... :crying:

It also seems that buying and shipping the bass to Norway could be troublesome. Rondomusic won't accept creditcards from outside the US... I don't have a PayPal account, so It seems like I'll have to pay by check...That means I'll have to wait a month or more to have the bass. And, since most of their costumers had to return their first deliverances because they are bad or broken, I'm starting to wonder if it's really worth it... Any suggestions? :help:

Raymond, I don't know what to do about your shipping situation, but I think you are confused when you say some people "hate" Rondo and "most" customers return the first delivery. I have seen no expressions of hate in this or other threads, and I think I've seen three or four people who needed to take advantage of the warranty. Maybe you are better off buying a used one, or getting a paypal account.

O.K. Guys,I recieved my warranty Brice 6 today. The neck was mostly ok this time,it had a slight bow, which I adjusted out in a few minutes. The setup was not so good.Strings really high and intonation off a bit. That was about a hours worth of tweek time.I noticed a loud rattle from the inside so I removed the rear cover plate to find the preamp box not secured into place.A tie wrap and a bit of foam took care of that.Several solder joints look questionable but I left that alone for the time being.Lets plug this baby in!Alright all the knobs worked.I got alot of different sound combos from it.Some a little strange, some pretty nice for cheap electronics. To me it almost sounded better in passive mode. The B string is a little on the slack/loose side but sounds ok.I'm sure the strings are as cheap as Korea could find. Those will soon be replaced. The color from the headstock to body is different but no big deal. All in all it looks good feels good and sounds pretty good too, with a little setup time to suit the player.I'd say it's a pretty good deal if you have the knowlege to adjust it properly.Or if you don't know any better it may be good enough out of the box.Sure is pretty!

Finally got my Brice Douglas 5 stringer swamp ash. It got shipped back as i wasnt home and the UPS notice blew off my door so i had to ship again. Good cust service as usual, though. Looks great. Its true..the inlays are real inlays, the whoole finish is nice (my neck on my sixer is not finished but still smooth, this one is of course but i feel no problems). The setup was a bit lacking, the action was way too low and the intonation was off a bit. I never actually did a setup on my sixer so I'm a novice. It took about an hour to setup well but it was worth it (I learned a lot about setting up in the process, I'm a trial and error kinda guy) and now it has pretty low action, no buzz, nice intonation, etc. The tuners suck compared to my other brice but they do the job...i dont know if they detune easily yet (my sixer never detunes). No big deal though. The binding actually to my eye looks real...it took me a while of inspection enear the frets to see it prob wasnt...good job for that though.

Oh...this bass doesnt seem too heavy at all. The strings are lacking. But this baby slaps like a mo fo, unfortunately I dont have my amp with me so I cant say that the bass even works yet :D, but just the ease of play is amazing. The strings are really loose without buzz and this allows for crazy slapping.

My six string has fairly high action cuz i have no time and it has really high tension too (good for B string) so when I slap its a completely different feel. I am used to extremely narrow string spacing because I've only played my sixer but playing on this is like I've been walking with cement boots all this time. Acoustically it doesnt actually seem to have the same kind of low end tone that I'm used to (i find placing the bottom of my chin against the horn and playing you can hear the actual bass tone)...but when I slap, oh baby...reminds me of Louis Johnson...a slap tone I could never get on my sixer. Anyway...when I plug this baby in tomorrow I'll give more info...oh..and NOT A SCRATCH...perfect finish looks better than the site, but the B string is floppy, maybe with better strings..?

Hey, the mailman just brought me my Bartolini J Passives!!! YAY...I'll try out these pickups before i change them of course to compare!

If they are willing to ship you a new bass no prob then why bother complaining about "Quality Control"? Who really cares? You guys arent THAT impatient when it comes to your new baby's are ya?

But if say I got a Modulus with Faulty wiring/Color/Glue/pain on the neck... I would be pissed, but with a $300 bass, and supposed "Great" costomer service who really cares if ya get a lemon?

Well, Im not trying to start any arguements, So I hope all you guys love your basses...

BTW: I will be ordering a HBX-6 Fretless soon :) :bassist:

Good times.

It really doesn't matter if you buy a 2 dollar gallon of milk,if it's sour you're gonna get pizzed.300 bucks may just happen to be alot of jack for some of us.So ya save up and wait to get junk, how can ya be happy.Sure you can wait some more yo get what you should have got in the first place. If quality control was in place to begin with,no matter the product or price, the customer would be alot more satisfied, period!Oh yeah the shipping doesnt really cost what you are charged and the return you pay for may or may not be reimbersed as implied.I'm still waiting.Good luck!

I got my Brice 6-string fretless today. Took nearly a month to come from the States via the USPS, but it arrived in good condition, packed in two boxes, and complete with a lead! (The customs charge was £42 if anyone in the UK wants to buy one, that was just the VAT and the Parcel Force handling fee.) First impressions were good, the finish was nice and smooth (it's the natural quilt-maple model) the neck felt good and the joints were tight. I've had a few hours to play with it now, and other than the really, really bad strings the bass shipped with (nasty flatwound things with a totally dead low B - its tone was so indistinct that it was almost impossible to tune it) it's a nice bass. The sound isn't bad, although it could use a little more bottom end and mids, and it mwahs quite nicely from about the 5th fret up, and that's with the stock crappy strings. Gonna whack a set of Elites nickels on it this weekend and then give it a re-appraisal - I can see a set of decent strings improving this bass no end. Then it's time to program a chorus and octaver patch on my BP8, and have some Pino-derived fun! Assuming it sounds better with the new strings, I'll use it on a gig next weekend. Definitely the most value I've had out of a £200 bass!

I ordered my Brice HXB-406 naturtal in september of last year. It came to my house with pretty much no set up at all. That wasn't too much of a problem for me. It took me about an hour to get it how I wanted it. From the start I loved it's tone I think the stock pickups are great although that's just my opinion. To this day I've only had one problem with it and that was the side input jack. I just ordered a replacement part from ebay. It only cost me 6 bucks. Overall, I really have nothing bad to say. It works great for gigging and it's very comfortable andreliable.

(please excuse my spelling I have not slept in a while and am suffereing from insomnia)

Dannyboy you and I share the same setup with the exception that I have a DR Bass 2x12 cabinet. As far as my HXB406 goes... I love the thing. I have had it for nearly a year now and it has held up quite well. It arrived in a double box and needed a little setup before I could play it. The action dialed in well and the pickups sound amazing through the shape circuit on the Behringer head. I'll add more later if I think of something else.
