Ok so, i havent really been following along with the trends on here. Enough to not know Broughton Audio. I was doing a search on the Googs.. And i found Broughton audios website. I saw they built tube DI boxes among other things and i was intrigued. When the SSDI came up for sale i pulled the trigger and awaited its arrival. I found the Tube di Comparison thread on here and listened to the audio tracks. They sounded awesome. Ive owned a REDDI and i still own my Verellen Meatsmoke and Jule Amps Monique Preamp.
I don't think anything will top the Meatsmoke for me in terms of character and "heft" but i like a tube drive character. The Monique is NICE too but i was underwhelmed at first... Had to really dial in to hear the goodies. Now i get to the SSDI.
As far as a tube DI goes this is the best sounding piece ive owned. It does the REDDI and then some. And its a quality unit too. No slacking on the makers end.. There is a sheen and body to the tone that just isn't there with anything else. (Except, in my opinion, the meatsmoke. I don't consider the meatsmoke a di though).
I can take it with me anywhere i go. I was expecting and much bigger unit and i was pleasantly surprised. Needless to say im super happy with this purchase. Enjoy the video.
